Crawford is probably going to miss significant time. Unsure about Devers, but maybe this completely forces him off 3b.
I am shocked SHOCKED that Bello will again miss Opening Day.
Sure you did, buddy... We also had posters on here claim they saw Enmanuel Valdez play SS when he only had 2 career appearances and the last time was in TX while in the Astros org! 🧐
The worst umpire, Larry Vanover, was correct 92% of the time. The best umpire, Derek Thomas, was correct 96% of the time. Things could be better, but they've been worse. Umps are better than they've ever been before. I feel gross for saying that.
There are a lot of things they could do to make certain that every call is right (camera placement, microchipped balls/bags, laser foul lines, etc.), but there isn't the appetite for it. I'd rather have every call 100% correct down to the micrometer.
It may be awkward right now in Spring Training, but it worked really well from what I saw in AAA last season. Meidroth had a few challenges when I watched and it went really quick. If it takes away the k zone from my screen, I'm all for it.
Why? Even Lou said on the broadcast that he has stuff to work on and needs time in AAA. He has platoon concerns and can't hit offspeed stuff. This is well known. If they are saying it on NESN, it's no longer just me talking about it as some fringe conspiracy.
I'm going to stop you right there. He was EXTENDED at 7M per year for an untested player. It was a horrible decision. No other bench player with one year's experience has that CBT hit. He's being paid as a STARTER. He's being extended because they assumed that he was going to do well in his ARB years (he wouldn't have) and wanted to protect him from leaving in FA. It's the one deal that makes me really question what the hell Breslow was doing last season.
He stupidly played through a shoulder injury in '23 and saw his numbers plummet. He should have missed more time, but didn't know when to tell the trainers that he was hurting.
