  1. They were coming off 4 WS in 15 years. Henry thought he could do it his way with or without his star player. Oops.
  2. Considering that they just got new ownership who were going to invest in the ballclub... Very weird.
  3. Pumped and jacked Finally getting back into the win column.
  4. Over the past 9 regular season games, he has struck out 26 times. He has only been elite at striking out. There's is no way this is simply a "rocky start." There's something wrong.
  5. Again, it's probably a combination of roster construction and coaching, but mainly roster construction.
  6. The Sox looked at how good the hitters were doing for the Yankees and how horrible the Sox were doing for Fatse.
  7. The Yanks were 4th in wRC+ on the day he was fired.
  8. The Yankees ended the year 22nd in k% (same ranking they were the day he was fired), Sox were 3rd. Can't blame this on him IMO.
  9. Old Red said "at least 6 years" so that leaves open to a future extension maybe?
  10. Devers' last 9 regular season games: 1-34, 26K, 5 BB They shut him down last year after he went 1-15 with 11 k's. He's current stretch is worse. There's no way his shoulder is ok.
  11. It's great that Whitlock is pitching well. They need to really manage his healthy. Campbell would be a great #2 hitter behind Duran at some point. Don't want to make that adjustment just yet though. Wong is really rough up there and has a backup that is much better behind the plate. More Narvaez please!
  12. Rafaela is in midseason form. He's destined for a utility role.
  13. Devers is an unreliable narrator in this, Cora too.
  14. Needed some good news before they headed back to Boston. Now they need extensions for Mayer and Campbell.
  15. He only got 3.8M this year so there's no way he's going up to 20M this offseason in ARB. That's not how it works.
  16. Is this approach any different than last year when they struck out a crap ton?
  17. He speaks English. He just doesn't speak to the media in English because he's not confident about it.
  18. Part of it is small sample bad luck. The other part is striking out because you're watching third strikes go right by you.
  19. And he's really their 7th or possibly 8th starter. I can see why they didn't bring up Priester (logically ahead of Newcomb on the depth chart) if they thought there was going to be an upcoming roster move.
  20. 4th backwards k of the day for everyone keeping track. Raffy's shoulder is fine though! That's what I've read on here!
  21. No game tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to some Newcomb talk for 48 hours.
  22. If Newcomb can get through 5 and the Sox are still close, it's a miracle.
