  1. In the aftermath of the game, manager Álex Cora wouldn’t commit to Houck getting another start. “We’ll talk about it, of course,” Cora said, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive. “I’ve got to take a look at the video and we’ve got to see what we’re gonna do. Right now, it’s too fresh. It’s too quick. We have to take a look at it and see if it’s mechanical, usage, or where we’re at.”
  2. Vlad Jr went from being a -20 OAA 3b to a -13 1b (probably should be a DH). Miggy went from a -17 OAA 3b to 0 0AA 1b (for a little while). It's hard to really say what Raffy could do at 1b without him actually transitioning there!
  3. The Knicks lottery? They didn't have the third best odds that year. Each lottery team had the same odds. There were only 7 comically large envelopes, one for each team. 14% chance for each lottery team to win. That's how stupidly it was run until 1990. Easier to rig that way too.
  4. Savant, bref, Fangraphs... I use all three as needed for different reasons. I don't think there is one site that does everything perfectly.
  5. Also, while he's spending time working on his fielding at 1b, what happens to his hitting? Are we just going to assume he'll still hit at a high level at least in the short term?
  6. With that injury history, hard to put him even in the rotation for the whole year.
  7. We don't know if Devers is a better first baseman than Dave O'Brien TBH.
  8. Why didn't anyone want him AFTER the contract, notin? He was only 32! They could have had him for league minimum!
  9. Bello as a #2? 2.01 ERA 4.72 xFIP 5.53 xERA 5.57 FIP 5.24 k/9 4.84 bb/9 .234 BABIP I think there will be regression at some point unless he can turn it up here.
  10. They put Ref at first for a few days in ST last season and then also had him forever throw away his 1b mitt. Didn't use him at all last season even when they were running through Cooper and Dom Smith. Why? IDK. 227 career innings in MLB. 99 innings in AAA.
  11. And no other GM in MLB was a fan either as he never appeared in another MLB game. In fact, no team even wanted him on an MiLB deal as a 32 year old...
  12. That's like saying "yesterday was the past and has nothing to do with today." 🙄
  13. This isn't really true. History of this team is that Henry allows the GM/CBO to make decisions that he doesn't agree with. Case in point, they signed Carl Crawford to a deal that Henry didn't want Theo to sign. I think more often than not, Henry is an absentee owner and doesn't get in to the day to day. For a move regarding the franchise player, it would have to be run by the owner.
  14. That's 23% of PA's vs LHP vs 29% of PA's vs LHP for all of last season. Slightly lower than what we could expect to see as the season shakes out, but nothing extreme.
  15. It wouldn't be surprising. The only issue is that they don't really have a lot of positional depth. They will have promoted the big three as well as traded Teel/Montgomery and guys at last year's deadline. The AA/AAA roster has very few bright spots aside from the well known guys.
  16. Inevitable. There's been some players suspended so far. I think getting into bed with online sportsbooks is one of the more hypocritical things these leagues have ever done.
  17. MLB closed the loophole where if Rusney was promoted he'd count against the lux tax after he was in AAA. He was stuck in purgatory. I'm sure he could have been a decent 5th OFer somewhere if he didn't have that contract.
  18. I get frustrated as Hell with MLB umps, but haven't heard they've been on the take. Angel stunk. Joe West was a dingbat. That doesn't mean they were fixing games.
  19. I don't mind the game switching to 3's. Ball movement and shooting is closer to how it was in the 80's than the isolation nonsense in the 90's. I just think there are too many fouls called and it disrupts the flow of the game TBH. If I'm noticing the refs, it's a bad time.
  20. Everything about the NBA is completely fixed. The refereeing is fixed. The draft is fixed. The teams are fixed. Basketball was my number 2 sport at one point, but I don't really watch anymore even though the C's are really good.
  21. I don't see this happening. If he trades Devers and the Sox miss the playoffs, Breslow is fired almost immediately.
