  1. Fred, this post began a month ago. Since the end of the season, there's been more circle jerking than actual discussion. I could be patting myself on the back for seeing this ship taking on water midseason, but I don't because it's stupid. Once the WS is over and signings begin, maybe this post will finally just go away.
  2. Jung, if the Sox want to be WS contenders, the first place to cut salary isn't the closer. You pay a premium for closing big games in NY, TB, and the playoffs. If the closer has a few less appearances against the bottom of the barrel, who cares... It just means he won't be burnt out in October.
  3. Signing Scutaro should be the biggest no-brainer of the offseason.
  4. The season ended three weeks ago. If you want to continue patting yourself on the back for the whole offseason, go for it. I just think it's boring.
  5. Not worth MLB minimum.
  6. I lied. Webb and Oswalt are ok too.
  7. I'm on the Buehrle bandwagon with Mazz. None of the other SP listed get me excited.
  8. Would he be better than 2011 Lackey? Sure, but at this point I'd rather not tarnish my memories of him. As a grown man, his final press conference as a Red Sox made me feel far too emo.
  9. Theo is older, but by less than a year. This GM job would age anyone.
  10. Would never happen. He's my second favorite player of all time, but I hope he stays home and spends the rest of his life under that mango tree.
  11. Going from sloppy mess Lackey to straight edge CJ Wilson would be an interesting turn of events. (not that I'd want him in Boston)
  12. It's a need for every team. They don't grow on trees. Lester would be a #1 for half the league. A rotation of Lester/Buch/Becks/Bedard/Bard or Aceves would still be towards the top of the league. Remember, DiceK could end up being a serviceable fill in down the stretch.
  13. In a convoluted way, it's to divert blame away from management, just like Henry's dumb trip to 98.5. That red herring will be gone soon enough.
  14. And iortiz swoops in with a reach-around. Get a room please. This board is turning unreadable. The Sox lost. Some people saw it coming early in the season. Others stuck their heads in the sand and told the complainers to stfu. We get it. Now, can we all move forward please and quit it with the "I told you so's." There's way better crap to talk about than what is currently on here.
  15. Not been under much pressure? He pitches in Boston, not TB. Coming in with a 3 run lead isn't the definition of pressure. Even Bobby Thigpen got 50+ saves one year. It's a fairly meaningless stat.
  16. Fred, my only point is that you shouldn't discount someone else's affection for the Sox. A lot of us on here grew up Sox fans. We didn't have a midlife crisis and one day decide to become a Sox fan like you did. Does that make you less of a fan? No, but you probably shouldn't worry about someone else's reaction to this team. Some of us are Sox fans by birth, not by choice.
  17. Fred, you've only been a fan since 2004, which was noted back in the dodger blues drama. You have little right to question anyone else's "affection" for the team.
  18. Kalish isn't a 20/40 guy right now.
  19. Youk is a "grinder." C'mon SCM, you're better than lame analysis like that. Youk is injured and severely overrated. He should go. Even Manny was sick of his tantrums.
  20. 3rd base coach: the most hated person on any coaching staff.
  21. A cancer who can't pitch at all. Why would they keep him?
  22. What are the Pads getting out of this? Lackey? Just too convoluted of a scenario.
  23. They could move him this offseason as long as they eat 80% of his salary. I'm not getting my hopes up though.
  24. 2004 bandwagon fans, get off my lawn. Your opinion doesn't matter.
  25. This organization is a mess. Henry isn't taking any blame for it. If you think the ownership is handling this correctly, you really are an idiot.
