Tek just went through a divorce. It'd be dumb for him to hang up his boots if he still thinks he has something left. It's more of a financial decision than one concerning class. Dude needs the money. Don't know why anyone would fault him for trying to hang on. My guess is we'd all do the same thing in his shoes. He'll make more earning veterans minimum than any other job he could get.

Tomorrow I will pour some out for that POS. If this was just a salary dump, seems like a waste. If the owners were so worried about the luxury tax, maybe they should stop bringing in over priced players like CC and Lackey. This ownership group has lots of money. Penny pinching is f'n stupid. I don't want Aviles at SS. That'll be ugly.

His offense is fine for a catcher. He's comparable to most starters. Defensively, he took a hit from catching Wake. He still needs to improve, but he's not a "liability." If Tek was the starter, that's a liability.

He batted .279 after May 1 last year. Funny how people rip a hardworker and good clubhouse guy like CC. Could he be better, sure. Should he have been signed to a big contract, no, but you can't change that know. It's a sunk cost. Frankly, I don't remember an uproar over him last offseason.

Floyd won't be cheap. CWS wouldn't want a broken down Youk. Me? I find a bunch of reclamation Harden/Webb types and see what sticks. I don't want Bard or Aceves starting. Put WMB at 3rd and Youk in LF. Problem solved.

Fred, all you need to know is that I've been a fan for 3x as long as you. And stop with the FO is treating Wake and Tek like sacred cows crap. They aren't signed. Until they are your point is 100% hyperbole and not based in reality.

Fred, thanks for reading. That's basically how I feel. CC is at fault. BV is at fault. BV seems to just speak off the cuff sometimes. I feel this could cause huge problems down the road. For now, it's not a major issue, he just needs to have a bit more tact. He should save this tactic as a last resort, imo. Part of being a manager is dealing with the players for 8 months out of the year. It's as important as on field decisions. Just worried his schtick will wear out the players over 162 games.

No, BV needs to be more media savy in this market. This was an instance where he should have known better. He needs to learn how to prevent his players from becoming stories in the paper. I think he's just too full of himself to understand this.
