  1. The years used by Pal are just meaningless. You can't ignore Lester's bad 2012 and the other pitchers' good 2012's. I only posted in here because Pal referred me here from another thread. I'm not posting to backup Jung's contentions.
  2. When you ignore his most recent year, it's dumb and arbitrary.
  3. Why not include Lester's 2012 stats. Did last year not count? So you include other pitcher's bad years, but not Lester's? Horrible analysis. And wins are a stupid measure.
  4. Weaver's past 3 years are better than any year Lester has had.
  5. Lester has NEVER pitched as well as Verlander has the past 2 years.
  6. Shields isn't a #1. Price's first full year wasn't until 09 ( and he's outperformed Lester the past 3 years). Greinke has been wildly inconsistent.
  7. His K/9 has gone down steadily since 09. If you aren't concerned about that, I don't know what to tell you.
  8. It pained me to copy/paste that.
  9. Nope. It's going to be Steven Wright! @Knucklepuck23: First day of spring in the books and I really enjoy the guys there fun to be around!!!!
  10. At the end of the day, the problem with the rotation is its lack of a #1. At best, Lester is a 2 and Buchholz will never be more than a 3 due to his durability issues. Adding a #4 in Dempster was meaningless. All last year, we heard that Lester would get better because of his FIP. He was "unlucky" even though teams were teeing off on him. Well, maybe he's not much better than a 15 W 3.8 - 4.2 ERA guy. He's a fine pitcher, but not a leader and not a #1. Until the Sox improve the front of their rotation, they won't be a playoff team.
  11. There are more than enough wet blankets around here.
  12. ^ polyanna
  13. And so it begins, overreactions to every minor event because this team is destined to be in last damn place or something something...
  14. You guys are missing out on some great hockey...
  15. No, you make that mistake every time. Your 1,000+ word posts are often filled with so many errors and weirdly constructed sentences, that it's hard to get through them. I'd suggest rereading your massive posts prior to submitting. You'd catch a lot of small stuff.
  16. How? His "supple glove hand?" Lavs flat out sucked when he came up last year. I think he's the most overrated prospect the Sox have had in a while. At this moment he is below average defensively and offensively. If he's not beating down the doors for playing time, it's because he's not that good.
  17. If Lavs goes to AAA and hits like WMB did last year, then he should be brought up. Frankly, Lavs wasn't even that good at Pawtucket last year.
  18. Lavarnway hasn't shown that he can hit MLB pitching. His defense is below average. I don't know why people can't see this. Salty stinks, but right now Lavs is worse than Salty.
  19. As I inferred above, it was Andy Yount. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writers/matthew_waxman/07/26/daily.blog/index.html?mobile=no
  20. I think it says more about their lack of confidence in Lavs than how much they value Salty. If Lavs hit at the end of last season, Salty would be gone.
  21. Oh noes... A guy who can't hit .200 in MLB will be in AAA to start the season! They should still trade Salty though. I'd rather Ross be the catcher getting the most reps.
  22. http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Andy_Yount Two other fun injuries: Wade Boggs hurting his back taking off cowboy boots and Bob Stanley destroying his hand taking out the garbage.
  23. No, you didn't.
  24. Pedro 99: monster regular season, All Star Game, series against the Guardians.
