  1. Honestly, trade the entire team except for Anthony and Mayer. It's just laundry anyway. Maybe keep Crochet if you can't get a decent return. 😢
  2. It took him 26 pitches to get through the 1st inning. Rochester is 19th out 20 teams in the Int'l League in OPS.
  3. Taj could be the guy the Sox could keep the offense going with. He doesn't generate a lot of whiffs and has a bad 4 seam FB. The three guys after that are tougher matchups for the Sox IMO. As with the other Rays starters, his worst starts have come at HOME. Away: 637 OPS, 4.04 ERA Buehler needs to keep that train rolling.
  4. I'd option Houck to AAA and keep him there until he actually looks good enough to be promoted. He's been really bad.
  5. There is a ladder he could use! Why hasn't he tried that?
  6. We've spent way too much brainpower on DRS and OAA the past few years. Until there's something better, they are all we got.
  7. The Schwarber and Eovaldi deals were completely fine. Nobody was upset at the time. Neither was a top 20 prospect or had that upside. Bolivar is a guy nobody was tracking. Portes was an exciting pitcher, but still years and years away. Portes is still in Low A right now. The buzz around Espinoza was crazy high when he was traded. Using him on Pomeranz was the problem. Should have just got a better arm for him.
  8. Hicks doesn't have any options. How would they get him to AAA? DFA? That'd be an interesting move.
  9. The only drawback to OAA is how it treats balls hit to or over OF walls, especially shorter porches. It assumes that Duran can still get to some balls hit onto the Monster for example because it scores everything by trajectory and ignores ballpark architecture.
  10. Wellington Castillo.
  11. They are playing well against bad competition, but everyone is going to need AB's going forward. It's up to Cora to juggle it.
  12. I don't really remember what happened with Buch in '16. He was awful for the whole year in and out of the rotation a bunch and had a 15 day IL stint. Seems like he was better as a reliever: 571 OPS, 3.57 ERA
  13. I'm not saying I agree with what Paisan is writing....
  14. I wonder if he knows former Red Sox Jose Awfulman?
  15. 5/24 - 6/11 835 OPS 6/13 - 6/23 330 OPS 6/24 - 7/9 765 OPS I can forgive him for having a rough week and a half as he adjusts to MLB pitching.
  16. Keeping him up because they feel bad that they didn't take the Hamilton for Castillo trade offer last offseason. 🤪
  17. Those are the rumors. They've also said they are willing to keep all the guys they have, but send Mayer down to AAA WHICH IS WILD...
  18. Three weeks to go. Who will the Sox trade or trade for? Passan suggests a deal for Helsley.
  19. That's what 2 TJS will do to a pitcher.
  20. Anthony's underlying metrics have been great for a while, it just took a while for the numbers to catch up. Giolito has been fantastic for 6 starts now. It was going to be bumpy coming back from TJS, but maybe he's all the way back? Bello seems to be past that 4.2 IP mental barrier. 6 of his last 7 starts have been QS. I'm good if he's a legit 3. Just keep Crochet healthy, get through this tough stretch of games and they'll be able to make a run at the end of August (pushover city: PIT, BAL, MIA, NYY). As long as they don't completely fall apart the next few weeks, maybe they do become buyers?
  21. And he didn't fix the logjam in the OF for some reason or have a plan for where the big three would play when promoted.
  22. The problem with the Espinoza trade was that Espinoza should have been used on a better pitcher, not a guy like Pomeranz who was on a crazy run just because he had a new pitch and his time was almost up. It was obvious at the time that Pomeranz was having the greatest stretch of his career, but that it was highly unlikely to continue (and his first 3 starts with the Sox showed that). Espinoza was a highly ranked prospect and continued to be highly ranked through the rest of that season.
  23. What's there to like about Hicks? Alcala has at least performed.
  24. They won't lose him to free agency, he's just out of options after this season. They could just keep him on the MLB roster, but it doesn't make much sense at this point.
