    I like him, but we have to be honest with what is a good value to give up. Hill is not durable in the least. If you're bringing a guy in to pitch down the stretch, you need to be sure that he'll take the mound every 5 days at the very least.

    We won't get a power bat this offseason. DH will be split between Shaw, HanRam and Pablo. Shaw will get reps at 1b and 3b throughout the season. I'd like to see them grab a #4 starter (Lewis, Iwakuma, Fister) AND pick up a solid veteran like Bud Norris or Bartolo Colon as their 5th starter. We all know that won't happen though.

    Yup, it's a clear case of a losing argument. "Uh, well, errr uh, you just don't know what you're talking about." Feel free to enjoy a festering s*** hole like the Bronx. It's fine with me. I've been there. It sucks and stinks like garbage. You can see the half empty move theater seats whenever a game is on. Not sure what I was so wrong about. NYC has a lot of great things. However, the Bronx and the new Yankee Stadium are not included on that list. I'm personally in favor of building a new Fenway Park due to problems with sightlines, obstructed seats, etc. However, I'd still rather sit in the RF seats staring out into CF than have to go to a game in the Bronx.     Yup. They have 3 starters that are good enough to keep this team competitive for the rest of the year. Just need to figure out the last 2 rotation spots.

    It's not that clear cut. Each concussion is different. Each person recovers differently. That's the reason that Patrice Bergeron has been able to continue his career whereas Marc Savard will never play again.

    No, that's not how it works. Holt is playing in Pawtucket because he can get a few AB's in and come out of a game whenever he needs to. They are bringing him back as slowly as possible. In Boston, he'd be a waste of a roster spot because you can't commit to him for a whole game and you'll never know if he's going to need a few days off.

    A subsequent arm injury is common among pitchers who have had Tommy John surgery. More than half of Major League pitchers who underwent Tommy John surgery from 1999 to 2011 went on the Disabled List with an arm injury after returning from surgery. Another recent study from the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) concluded that 19% of Tommy John patients will have a subsequent elbow surgery and 25% will have shoulder surgery. http://m.mlb.com/pitchsmart/tommy-john-faq/ TJS doesn't reduce the risk for future injury. Sure, they may not get TJS again (though some do), but they are still likely to have future arm/shoulder problems.

    Tropicana Field is just the worst. These games look dreary on tv regardless of how the pitching staff is doing. Porcello vs Archer Ortiz usually has had lots of success against this dope. Let's f***ing go!

    Which is why it is a complete s*** show right now. Buchholz shouldn't be starting for any MLB team right now. The problem is that the Sox have struggled year in and year out to develop young pitching. Now the rotation is: highest paid FA from last offseason, downgrade from Lester, flash in the pan knuckleballer, hollowed out shell of Buchholz and trash bag of AAAA starters trying to earn a 5th spot. Is Buchholz the only problem in this rotation? No, and I've never said he was. All along I've stated the following: the Sox needed to grab 2 FA pitchers in the offseason, move on from Buchholz and trade for a third starter once ERod got injured. The rotation should be: Price, FA #2, Porcello, SP trade and Wright.
