  1. Professional athletes shouldn't be fat.
  2. He's fatter than ever and can no longer field his position. Not much else to say about it.
  3. And I haven't ever said he was lazy, that's your bias against others' povs.
  4. The harm is that if he has been outplayed by Shaw since last summer, it makes little sense to play Panda unless you aren't trying to win. Is baseball about the feelings of overpaid players or about fielding a team that can win? I want wins. You seem to want to coddle veterans at the expense of results on the field.
  5. I'll do myself that disservice since they are a garbage site.
  6. Janky stats from a janky site, honestly. I don't typically quote articles from the Sun or Weekly World News, so I'd never quote Fangraphs ideas about WAR.
  7. Fangraphs is to Baseball Prospectus as GoBots are to Transformers.
  8. I'm seeing "official weight 295 lbs" on every forum, but aside from wikipedia, I don't see that weight listed "officially" anywhere.
  9. You just can't ignore the white noise of the jokes. Just because some makes jokes, doesn't mean they have a bad argument.
  10. Because his chance was coming to ST and being ready for this season. He squandered that opportunity.
  11. A Lovecraft story is the perfect way to describe the past two years. Story is about facing certain doom (last place). Narrator passes out from fear (fans bail on the season by August). Narrator wakes up after unspeakable horrors (fans come back for ST). That's basically every Lovecraft story.
  12. If he pitched like 2014, he'd be worth it. He just hasn't done so in Boston. Maybe this year?
  13. 2012 1.5 WAR 2013 2.4 WAR 2014 4.0 WAR Nearly?
  14. And that he was the worst fulltime player last year.
  15. Pablo is at fault for being out of shape.
  16. It's less unreasonable and less unrealistic than the question you posed.
  17. The question is: if they didn't extend him, would you have signed him for the contract this offseason after his 2015 performance? That's far more relevant than saying "what if he pitched well."
  18. Your argument is based in fantasy land and not real life. The fact of the matter is Porcello didn't have a long track record of being a top pitcher. He was good for one year. The extension was done too early, plain and simple.
  19. Oh boy. Theoretical good value really gets meexcited.
  20. Sorry, but you're wrong about the offspeed stuff.
  21. We have provided good reasons, you just don't agree. My reasoning conflicts with yours, so I could never convince you no matter what my reasoning.
  22. But the reality is that he didn't pitch well. Your point is just guess work.
  23. He went from being fat to obese.
  24. They've handed out tons of big contracts. I think they value analytics just as much (maybe even more considering Pablo's defense). Not sure how they changed the prioritization of the farm.
