  1. It was reported that Hanley was the first on the field today. I only find it interesting because the Red Sox twitter machine was posting yesterday how Pedey is always the first one out. Maybe Pedey lost his smile? Maybe they just thought Pedey would get more retweets?
  2. You need to build a team around more than luck. Unfortunately, that's exactly how this team has been built the past two years. Too many "what ifs" imo.
  3. While I don't like watching Wright for aesthetic reasons, I think he could be a consistent starter who puts up a bunch of QS. Like I said previously, his performance would be about what I'd expect from Porcello. He's not a top of the rotation guy, but I don't see him getting hit around the way Kelly and Buchholz do too often. To me, Wright seems like a better fit for the rotation than Kelly, who I'd move to the pen when ERod is ready. That first inning started ugly, but I have no complaints about anything that happened after that. The Sox should be able to put up 3 runs against Estrada and the Jays' bullpen.
  4. 2011, they were just beat up at the end and would've been smoked in the playoffs. 2012, they just quit on the coach. 2013, they had a #2. 2014, they blew up the team. 2015, they didn't have a 1 or 2. 2016, is the first year they really needed a 2.
  5. If the rotation was: 1. Price 2. Mystery #2 3. ERod 4. Porcello 5. Wright I think the Sox would be fine. They just needed one other top of the rotation guy. Porcello is fine as a 4. I don't really care about the contract even though it was silly to sign him early.
  6. The first inning for Wright was scary. He turned it around quick though. I'm more confident in him than Buchholz or Kelly.
  7. He made more than 2 bad pitches.
  8. 1. Watching a knuckleballer is boring. 2. It's so hard to catch that it's nearly impossible to find a guy to do inadequately. If you do find one, you basically need two roster spots for one pitcher.
  9. Can't fault Blake for struggling with knuckler. Nightmare. And good play by Hanley. Woot.
  10. Glad they pushed Price back for this.
  11. Nice throw Pedey.
  12. Like going to the dentist.
  13. Just like they wrote it up!
  14. @peteabe: Toronto coaches impressed with Travis Shaw, offensively and defensively. “He makes their lineup very deep." One other observation from the Toronto side: They see a big change in Hanley Ramirez. “He’s really into it. Good for them, bad for us."
  15. The problem is that Kelly and Buch aren't pitching like 2's or 3's. If no one steps up, this team will retire Koji midseason due to injury.
  16. How about 7 innings and a huge lead so that Layne can get in there?
  17. Peter Abraham saying it's just a day off and to give Young ab's.
  18. Maybe? No beat writer has mentioned this though.
  19. Why give a poor pitcher the benefit of the doubt??? He wasn't very good last year, but miraculously he'll be fine now? Huh?
  20. Rutledge is a AAA All Star. They should just leave him there.
  21. Don't sugar coat it. He sucked for the first few innings. He put some fat pitches in the zone and was lucky to give up only 4. I'll give credit for him settling down, but the box score masks how bad he was early on.
  22. Also, Young starting against RHP? WTF?
