My thought process: Keep Pablo on DL all year. Rather than using Hanley as DH next year, he stays at 1b and Pablo moves to DH. I don't think Pablo could bring anything worthwhile back. He's a net negative this year and trading him only makes the problem worse imo.

I'd imagine Ervin since there seems to be a need for another starter? Idk. I would be hesitant to dump Swihart unless you are getting something substantial back.

Does Sano still play 3b? Not sure the Twins would do that. The Sox have enough money. They should just eat the entire contract and not throw away prospects.

So Vazquez is better, but you want him in AAA? Huh? Vazquez was the starter in 2014. Swihart only came up in 2015 due to injuries. Vazquez would have been the starter in 2015. Once he was healthy in 2016, he was going to be the starter again. Swihart will get more reps in AAA. This has nothing to do with the first 8 games.

It wasn't an overpay. They didn't give up one asset that they'll miss.

Except that it wasn't a panic move. They just chose to start the better player and bench the veteran.

How could this be classified as "at any cost?" They haven't mortgaged the future. They didn't sign any albatross contracts this offseason.

Yeah, I think Swihart is better defensively than what he's given credit for. I still think he should spend the whole year at C and worry about another position in the offseason if it comes to that.
