  1. "Cheap." I think you could get similar results with Henry Owens. There's clearly a reason DUMBrowski wanted to keep him around. If he fails, it's just a black eye for the new FO guys.
  2. I don't remember Kendall having sick blackwork though.
  3. It's a pretty slimy way to treat someone who won you a WS, imo.
  4. You think Swihart is basically Jason Kendall?
  5. Yes. You need to get to the end of April, at the very least. It's way too early to panic. This team isn't 0-7. The offense is pumping. The bullpen is really good. The team has been fine defensively. The rotation just needs to be tweaked (either by the pitchers settling down or by bringing new blood in).
  6. Last year, the team played much better under Lovullo for whatever reason.
  7. Last year, Hanigan's CERA was 4.56. Swihart's CERA was 4.51. Leon's was 3.50 (fewer appearances than Blake or Ryan).
  8. If this was to me, I wasn't suggesting that. I was just asking the questions to see what other people thought a reasonable solution would be. I like Swihart. I wanted him on the opening day roster. Atm, he's just not a good defensive catcher.
  9. I'm not certain that he'll work out as a C, but it's definitely worth the shot given his age. Moving him off position this early would indicate to other teams that he probably won't pan out. It takes a while for some catchers to mature (why the Mariners gave up on Varitek). I just remember that 2-3 years ago, a lot of people (including Soxprospects) were saying that he may wind up at a different position (1b, 3b, corner OF). This isn't some new position that is being mentioned because of a dropped foul ball or two. To me, the onus is on the pitching staff. I can't blame Swihart for their failings.
  10. Playoffs? It would be silly to worry about the rotation that far in advance. You have to get there first.
  11. Would moving Swihart to AAA help him defensively? Is it getting more clear that he's maybe not a long term solution at C? Trade? Move to another position?
  12. CV would have been the opening day starter if he was fully recovered from injury. If he's ready to go, he should be up here. Buchholz can't even nap with his baby without destroying his shoulder. He's softer than wet toilet paper and has never had a pitching performance that he thought was bad.
  13. They should have dumped a bunch of veterans last year they way they did in 2012.
  14. Buchholz, go away. Kelly, go to the bullpen. Farrell, GTFO.
  15. It is just April 13th though. Some of the pronouncements on here are a little much.
  16. Recent history says Buchholz, Porcello and Kelly can't. Price should be fine. Wright seems ok. Better hope ERod regains health and form.
  17. Be nice. He's too busy tying himself in knots trying to make excuses for why the Yankees ownership is so cheap and s***** to its fans and players.
  18. Everything about this. Porcello is fine as a back of the rotation guy. There is nothing wrong with Price, just don't expect him to be 1999-2000 Pedro. Buchholz is a mixed bag and is not worth the risk anymore. Kelly just seems like a bullpen arm to me. I think Wright is ok in the rotation. I'm not thrilled about it, but whatever. I believe Owens started off the year in AAA pitching well, so maybe he gets called up first. Are they holding Johnson back a bit due to his injury history?
  19. Extending Clay was dumb. Maybe they thought it would increase his trade value? Idk. It made no sense to me though.
  20. Actually, the vast majority of people here wanted two starters this year and last year. I think UN was saying "I want two starters, but if they don't get them we'll just have to wait and see."
  21. Kelly could put himself in the bullpen with a few more putrid starts. "Well, he really only missed on a few pitches and was doing fine until..." Ugh.
  22. The second that ERod went down with an injury, they should have grabbed another starter at the very least. They needed a 1 and a 2, only got a 1 and then sat still when their best young pitcher jacked up his knee in ST.
  23. This wind is making me sleepy.
  24. My rotation as him as #3.
  25. Wind double for Shaw.
