  1. It's higgly unlikely he would play that way. It's more likely that Shaw will out perform him. Pablo will need to make the most of his chances in the early going or he'll be toast.
  2. @jonheyman Scout on red sox prospect Sam travis: "the next Paul goldschmidt
  3. Except that Shaw outperformed Pablo last year too. This isn't a ST aberration. Pablo was the worst everyday player in the league last year and now his defense looks even worse. Ortiz has an almost 15 year track record of being one of the greatest hitters in the game. Even when Pablo was at his best, he was simply above average.
  4. Clearly he's going to get another shot since Erod is out and they didn't grab another starter in the offseason.
  5. And down the stretch last year, Kelly pitched like an adequate 3, not a #2.
  6. So does ST matter or not? Don't say Shaw shouldn't start when he's killing it in ST, but prop up Kelly for pitching ok in ST. He has a history of only pitching well for parts of a season. He hasn't put it together before. We can't be sure he'll do so now. Until he actually pitches like a #2, the argument is silly imo.
  7. Pablo isn't 2014 Pablo anymore. He's oldrr and fatter. The mileage on his body has taken its toll. He looks like avsolute garbage on the field. He'll be given the chance to start, but when he fails, I'm expecting to hear a lot of excuse making for it.
  8. The track record is more indicative of future performance than hypothetical upside.
  9. Kelly isn't a #2 or top starter.
  10. Kelly's career has proven that he's not a rotation guy.
  11. Why? Just curious. I have no idea how to separate moves between FO personnel and ownership.
  12. Well, I want Kelly in the pen anyway... Erod should spend some time in AAA with managed innings (easier to do down there). Plus, Buchholz will be on the DL by the AS break anyway.
  13. What character assassination has really gone on here? Calling Pablo fat?
  14. Unless you were on the Sox payroll, you simply can't know this for sure.
  15. How often is an "outstanding" player sent down? I can't think of one that was producing at a high level and sent down. If a player has options but is far outpacing the veteran, you move or DFA the veteran.
  16. Idk... You didn't like Hanley at 1b for a while there...
  17. Hate the game, not the fat!
  18. Tell him he was an idiot for putting him in LF in the first place.
  19. You are correct. I failed to update.
  20. Nobody listens to me.
  21. Watch where you use those trigger words, sir...
  22. You're posting this nonsense in the wrong thread
  23. John Heyman "Pablo sandoval has lower back stiffness, and may have an mri taken tomorrow to be sure it's nothing more than strained"
  24. Mike Trout? I think he's overrated! Pablo? He's not that fat. There's just more of him to love! Carl Everett? Maybe dinosaurs really didn't exist! The 2000 Red Sox? They were a lovable bunch! Favorite team ever! Calvin Schiraldi? You know, if it wasn't for him, they probably wouldn't have made it to the WS anyway! It's time to give him our gratitude! Don Zimmer? He just had wonderfully chubby cheeks. Should totally be in the Sox HOF! Wally Wave? Greatest move by NESN since Sox Appeal (totally underrated show IMO)! Mickey Rivers? He was just a great competitor! Ted Williams' son? He was protecting Ted's legacy! Great guy!
  25. Well it's a good thing they have no rookie catchers to worry about at the moment.
