I'd probably put not re-signing Cabrera at #4 (this of course is ignoring the clubhouse rumors that no one liked him). It took them almost a decade to find a suitable replacement at SS.

Except that they have seen him day in and day out for a year and a half. They clearly don't like what they see and are moving on. Sure, we can say "oh let's give him a shot," but ultimately we know .0001% of what those guys do. It seems like they are cutting bait and don't believe he'll ever figure it out. We're talking about a 29 year old, not some 24 year old who still has room for growth. Castillo is who he is and they don't seem to like it much.

It's probably is: Lester walking Crawford signing to play LF Panda signing a monster deal I can't think of any other moves that were as confounding to me as the above 3.

They were never going to sign Max Scherzer, that's a pipe dream. They realistically could have kept Lester if they didn't lowball him.

I think that's unfair criticism to Ted because we could have had x and x if we didn't sign 2 3b's.

He'll probably just say "I don't need the beat writers who are in the pockets of management or the coaches who are just trying to save their jobs or the players who are just cashing checks or the trainers who aren't good enough to be real doctors so why are they trainers because they just failed out of medical school and aren't smart enough to know how to use a stethoscope even though every 5 year old has one in the veterinarian kit and it's not like I'd let them even put a band-aid on me telling me whether or not Rodriguez has been pushed back because it's clear he has or else why would have not be on the roster on opening day they should have never let him throw another pitch until he was 100% healthy." Because people are spending more on going to games each year. The inflated tv contracts are a large part of it too.

1. He has written off Rusney. 2. He is not concerned about 1b at all. 3. JBJ is considered an everyday player. 4. 3b is still a toss up.

I wouldn't do that trade if they ate all of Shields' and Pablo's deals. The Sox aren't the sisters of the poor, they can afford a bad contract without dumping their best contracts...

Oh my god... From today's Herald: "Holt will still move around the diamond, especially if Xander Bogaerts or Dustin Pedroia need a day off at shortstop or second base. Because Holt is the only backup middle infielder on the roster, Travis Shaw could get some reps at second base to protect the Sox in emergency situations."
