  1. I think they give Swihart the chance to learn how to be a professional catcher. If that doesn't work out, then they move him to 3b or elsewhere.
  2. Travis Shaw is too good of a prospect for Dojji to like. He's more of a Josh Ockimey guy. Loves the deep cuts.
  3. No reason to have Hannigan and a healthy Vazquez on the same roster since they have the exact same skill set and can't play on the field at the same time.
  4. My guess is that since Cleveland asked about him specifically, that they have a much higher opinion of Castillo than you do. However, I'm sure you're much better at talent evaluation than anyone in the Cleveland organization who gets paid to do that for a living.
  5. It's just common sense. He may be able to still hit, but the bigger he gets, the worse his fielding will be.
  6. Depends on your definition of "very much." A number 5-6 starter or quality bullpen arm should be an even trade.
  7. There is no roster crunch at catcher. Vazquez is coming back from injury and will start in AAA. When he's ready, he'll be called up. If Swihart starts the season the way he ended last season, he'll stick around. If he struggles, he'll go back down to AAA. When Vazquez is healthy and Swihart shows he's ready to stay in Boston, Hannigan is traded.
  8. When there are unused options, there is no crunch.
  9. If the Sox don't eat any cash, I'm ok with it.
  10. Maybe he just needs someone to rub his swollen feet? That will make it all better, right?
  11. I believe this was originally written to be a haiku.
  12. Honestly, I can't trust him because he has a tribal tramp stamp.
  13. Damn, roster crunch...
  14. I was told there would be more cushion for the pushin? Did the cushion not help in this case? Jacko, thoughts?
  15. I just don't understand someone who has an attitude of "you'll never convince me." So what's the point then? Why even come here if you don't want to hear or consider opposing viewpoints?
  16. Is it the late 90's again where everyone is on HGH and jacking bombs? Did I miss something? Didn't we just have a WS winner that won based off of defense and a great bullpen?
  17. Well, I can't convince you to change your mind on anything, so I'm not going to bother with this one.
  18. Sabremeterics was about finding market inefficiencies, not about propping up hitting. Small market teams started to favor defense once OBP was overvalued again.
  19. Jonathan Paplebon
  20. He's not a slob of a human being.
  21. Arrested Development superfan
  22. Shaw played well last year, Sandoval did not. Shaw has excelled in ST this year, Sandoval has continued to be underwhelming. Would it be a mistake to start Shaw on opening day? It could be. Would it be a mistake to start Sandoval on opening day? It could be. People just prefer the guys who try harder. And it just so happens that the guy who is trying harder, is also playing better in every phase of the game.
  23. Roster crunch is never a problem.
  24. No timetable is set, but he is expected to pitch this season. Please step away from the ledge... He could be ready about the same time Chapman begins his season. Pew pew pew...
  25. "Smith will begin the season on the disabled list after an MRI revealed a strained flexor mass muscle in his right forearm, Mike Silverman of the Boston Herald reports." Per the chart, if he had the Yankees facilities he'd be good to go. However, since he's stuck with the Red Sux he might as well get his arm amputated.
