  1. 1. The bold sentence is the exact opposite of what UN has been saying. We are criticizing the strategy, not the results (i.e. why start Young against RHP if Holt is available). 2. The record is more indicative of beating up on the Yankees and Braves, 2 of the worst teams in the league. 3. When we give Chili Davis credit for preparing Vazquez, Farrell gets all the indirect credit he can have. The leaders of well run organizations/departments typically will take the blame for corrective matters but will applaud their staff for any successes.
  2. Plus, his dog is great for NESN commercials!
  3. I can disagree. I don't believe he can "deal" anymore. His velocity is down and the contact rate is up. He's also never been a 7th inning guy and there is a transition there (uncertainty of when he'll pitch, come in with runners on, etc.).
  4. I'd give Young into June before making a change. Obviously, the Sox have more info and should hold onto him as long as they deem fit.
  5. Who is the sacrificial lamb that will take the Buchholz game thread today? Thunder?
  6. Price is just pitching to the score the way Jack Morris did.
  7. I don't care about $$$ investment. That's a terrible way to run an organization and would have been the only reason to play Pablo. I don't see how Rusney is a step up from Young. A 4th OF platoon guy should be easy to find on the market.
  8. Blake needs to stay in Pawtucket for the entire season.
  9. AKA, find someone not currently in the org to be the 4th OF.
  10. All I'm saying is that so far, he's looked poor this year. There's no reason to suggest he'd be an upgrade over Young. Also, 72 PA's in AAA is almost 20% of a season in Pawtucket, rather than his 1 game in Boston.
  11. 72 PA's at Pawtucket vs 4 at Boston. Can't compare.
  12. Don't be a goober please. Castillo isn't very good. I'm not sure how anyone could see upside with him. Young may not be better, but I think the Sox would have a better shot of trading for someone outside the organization. Castillo has a strong arm and is fast. However, he fields like Wily Mo and runs the bases poorly. He's not a MLB guy right now.
  13. Rivera had a 308 ERA+ when he was 35. He pitched for 8 more years after. GOAT.
  14. @redsoxstats Young is 2-21 8 K in games he's started, 1-8 in his starts vs LHP and he's seen only 26 pitches. Red Sox have scored 4 runs in 3 LHP starts.
  15. 2nd blown save for Paps. Swing/miss % on his FB is at career lows. Toast.
  16. Castillo can't hit in AAA right now. How would he hit here?
  17. It has been reported that they do not.
  18. And HS students that need their sleep for calc exams.
  19. This! A+ post. Exactly agrees with how I feel!
  20. I believe you have to set it as a poll right when you make the post?
  21. Farrell is a wirse manager than Young is at hitting RHP. Dump him already.
  22. 1. Shaw 2. Porcello 3. Wright
