  1. Alcala with the Sox: 1.72 ERA, 3.92 FIP, 1.404 WHIP Murphy '25: 4.91 ERA, 3.70 FIP, 1.406 WHIP They are close enough in terms of production to not DFA Alcala. May as well keep them both by just sending Murphy to AAA for a few weeks until you need his fresh arm. You need all the arms you can get at this point in the season and can't rely on the waiver wire.
  2. You can not say with a straight face that the fielding in LF has been decent. Duran has let catchable balls simply drop due to a lack of focus. Those don't even get called as errors. To say errors are unimportant and can be ignored is just ignoring a significant portion of what happens when a team plays defense. This team has been the bottom of the barrel in errors year in and year out. It's not just random at this point. You can't overlook it. It's a skill to finish the play and make the out.
  3. I've never heard of this "disadvantage" that you're talking about. I've seen enough Toro and Romy to know that they are defensively challenged. 1b, 2b, SS consistently leave me unimpressed. LF with Duran has been pretty rough as well. While the Sox rate high in DRS, they are middling in OAA and 2nd worst in MLB in errors committed.
  4. Sure, he's got over a decade to spend that money to make up for it.
  5. He has been in BOS since '22. He has played in over 250 G. To say he has never been given a chance is ridiculous.
  6. You'd think OF would be locked in, but Rafaela is a 2b apparently.
  7. It makes no sense to DFA anyone if Murphy still has options. You need every arm available.
  8. Runs really fast and fields well. Sounds like a Reds player to me. They have really focused on developing a core group of young pitchers. May as well surround them with good fielders. Breslow should think about doing that at some point.
  9. A little desperation from our CBO would be nice once in a while though!
  10. He's already thrown 43 innings this year. His previous MLB high is 51 innings................
  11. Giving up two OFers would be quite the move for sure. I guess you'd be then throwing Campbell to LF?
  12. 5th best bb/9 for relievers over 40 innings. Has been a solid reliever.
  13. He wasn't blocked. They just didn't like his profile. Casas is coming back next year presumably to take over fulltime. I wouldn't count on it though. I'm not sure the Sox are either at this point.
  14. Since being put back into the rotation on 5/26: 60 IP, 3.88 ERA, 4.12 FIP, 9.1k/9, 1.42 WHIP It's better than Buehler and Fitts.
  15. I wanted Blaze called up and given a shot, but don't really believe it's a big loss to the org. I think it's a fair trade for Matz. I would still rather a better solution than Toro.
  16. Glad Blaze will get a shot somewhere. I think Grissom may be an add on in a trade today or DFA'd at some point.
  17. “It’s a weird one because I don’t really expect much more opportunity here just because decisions that were made were made, and it kind of didn’t involve me,” Grissom said on Tuesday at Polar Park. “So there’s not much that I can do. I mean, all those decisions and stuff, they make sense in a way, but I guess it sucks a little bit. But, I mean, it is what it is.” - Vaughn Grissom That’s a yikes comment from me.
