  1. MOON! @PawSox Marco Hernandez enters today’s game against the @BlueJays tied for the most hits in Spring Training with 10. #SoxSpring
  2. No reason to trade Sandy or Christian unless Blake is ready.
  3. His defense is good, but not otherworldly as we thought it could have been. If his glove stays at "solid but not spectacular," his bat won't play. Frankly, I thought his glove was a little underwhelming, if not straight up disappointing, last year. If his glove was outstanding last year, maybe they would have had more of a reason to move Swihart to a new position. I think that since CV didn't make any great leaps last year, that they think Swihart's upside may be worth keeping at C. They obviously don't see CV as their future at this point.
  4. Are you talking about the 2017 starting All Star for your American Leaguers? Not on the 40 man roster. Unless you are JH's accountant, not sure why it would bother you. Another guy who has a history of postseason success and is enjoying a nice Spring Training. After coming back from numerous injuries, this guy could be a solid #5 hitter if he regains form. Again, unless you are JH's accountant, the off the books $ shouldn't matter. It doesn't impact the MLB team at all if the guy stinks up the joint. Yeah, screw that Theo guy. What a bum! Terrible GM... He's a decent enough signing. Solid glove at 1b. Due to Hanley's injury history, it was a smart move to bring in a professional 1b on cheap $.
  5. Because of your rosy outlook, everything you read and hear will always sound good. To a pessimist, everything they read and hear will always sound bad. For me, all I'm saying is it's too early to tell what will happen with Price. He hasn't thrown off the mound, pitched a simulated game, or thrown back to back starts without feeling discomfort. Until he actually pitches in a game, I'm not going to guess on how long he'll be out.
  6. For sure.
  7. If your biggest complaint is one of the best closers in the game, you must have a pretty good team.
  8. Seems like? How do we know if he hasn't thrown off a mound yet?
  9. Kendrick is a real option to fill in, unlike last year's options.
  10. Pablo Pedey Beni Betts Hanley JBJ Bogey Moreland Leon
  11. I think the Boston Sports Media should just STFU and write actual baseball stories about the onfield product rather than trying to ape the tabloids.
  12. The theory is that as long as the timing of his mechanics stays good, that he has a better chance to not have his elbow blow up.
  13. Need to rely on the coaching. I'd rather him make these mistakes in ST and learn from them.
  14. I'm trying to care about his responses to stupid questions, but I just can't. As long as he brings the chip on his shoulder to his starts, I'm fine with whatever.
  15. Thanks for posting this. I'll donate during their June drive.
  16. Catcher. If he develops his defensive game this year in Pawtucket, he could have a long career starting for the Sox. If he is transitioned to LF, his bat will not play. If he is transitioned to 3B, he'll play until Devers (a guy with a better bat and better glove) kicks him off the position.
  17. I thought you'd say "Porcello, because he will never have an ERA under 4.50 ever again." I guessed wrong. Hope fatherhood is treating you well!
  18. He's a #9 hitter right now after a year off. The best spot for him professionally as well as for the organization is at C.
  19. He made $507,500 last year (league minimum). Maybe he'd be owed 2017 league minimum of $535,000?
  20. Especially when Price said that after he heard it was a best case scenario that he just stopped listening. When people are posting that they will only listen to what Dr Andrews said, it's kinda weird that it's all being funneled through Price who is a very biased source. There's no comment from even the Sox training staff. There is a huge difference between hoping that Price will be ok and knowing that he'll be ok. All Jacko has said is that there may be an underlying problem. Seems obvious enough to me.
  21. What did Andrews say exactly? I haven't seen any quotes from him. This is what Price said about it: "It (the strain) is in the muscle. I know that," Price said. "I don't know. As soon as they said it was not as bad as they thought it would be and do it on your program, I just kind of shut my hearing off. I didn't want to hear anything else." The only take away was that "it's not as bad as the dr's thought it could have been." Once (if?) he resumes throwing next week, maybe we'll have a better idea then.
  22. http://www.thecubreporter.com/book/export/html/3506 There are protections for injured players and players on bereavement or paternity leave. Abad doesn't fall in any of those categories, so he could be outrighted or dfa'd without repercussion.
