  1. Who opts out of a contract after coming off of Tommy John Surgery, honestly?
  2. I'd swap Rutledge and Hernandez. I think Abad will probably be gone at some point this year too.
  3. Now that the roster is mostly finalized. How do you think the Sox will perform this season?
  4. All I'm saying is there's a chance they we are out of the race. Price may not pitch. Pom could flame out. I could see the Sox be at .500 near the AS Break even if Hanley and Pablo are playing well. If that happens, I wouldn't be surprised if Farrell was shown the door and the Sox looked to trim payroll.
  5. Sox Prospects has his ETA at 2020. Even then, I doubt he'd start off with top of the rotation stuff. He's a lottery ticket right now. Can't pencil him for anything yet.
  6. With a resurgent 2017, he could be an attractive piece at the trade deadline if the Sox eat some salary.
  7. I think Hanley is moved and next offseason Shaw is anointed 1b and they sign a cheap DH.
  8. From the Globe: Kendrick attributes his success to improved health. He has pitched with shoulder pain in recent seasons but worked on that over the winter with a new stretching and workout program. From the Herald: He also is bringing back the curveball, a pitch that didn’t play well at Coors Field.
  9. Hanley is traded before the end of the season. Maybe Pablo too if Sox eat enough of the contract. For luxury tax purposes, don't they need to be under the limit for only one year for a full reset?
  10. "You know, I just don't really want to talk about the great prognosis I received and how my arm will be just fine. I'd rather just say that I stopped listening and my mind went blank." Seems reasonable.
  11. @EvanDrellich John Farrell clarifies that the Red Sox took the decision not to go to the WBC out of Eduardo Rodriguez's hands.
  12. Only if Moreland or Hanley are injured in ST.
  13. If that's true, it's likely that it's worse than he is letting on, imo.
  14. I wouldn't rush him back no matter what.
  15. He'll be up at some point this year for sure.
  16. He said that once he heard "no surgery" that his brain shut down and he doesn't know his injury. He's not a very reliable source atm. Is he hiding something or just a dummy?
  17. @brianmacp Drew Pomeranz yields a rocket line drive and then a titanic home run to the first two hitters he faces in his first spring-training game.
  18. Got kicked. Now on another board.
  19. Farrell confirmed that Price will start season on DL.
  20. I didn't say pollyanna or realist. I'm not Fred. I didn't disparage you. All I've said is that your optimism will always lead you to thinking that a positive result is likely. I didn't say that was a bad thing either.
  21. It is known.
  22. Yup, if Pom looks ok, the fears about Price may be lessened when he's not with the club in April.
  23. http://www.espn.com/blog/boston/red-sox/post/_/id/51985/what-do-we-really-know-about-david-prices-elbow But the questions about Price's health linger. For one thing, it isn't entirely clear what was so wrong with the Red Sox's $217 million man that he jetted off to the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis on March 3 for an urgent consultation with Drs. James Andrews and Neal ElAttrache, two prominent orthopedic surgeons. If Price knows, he isn't saying. But he insists he doesn't actually know... Without knowing more about what was wrong, it's impossible to handicap the odds of it recurring. Moreover, there's no telling what sort of pitcher the Red Sox can expect to see whenever Price is ready to pitch again. He maintained that he isn't putting a timetable on such things, though he said he feels better to this point than he anticipated.
