  1. If he doesn't grow out his hair this offseason: wait until next year...
  2. It's not THAT much closer to Atlanta. It's 800 miles from Houston to Atlanta. It's 900 miles from NYC to Atlanta.
  3. I agree. If I were the Mariners' GM, I wouldn't do that deal either...
  4. Swihart needs to spend a full season at Pawtucket working behind the plate. Putting him up in Boston would be a disservice to his development.
  5. Third base coach is always the least popular guy on the team. Butterfield, Sveum, Kim, etc...
  6. He signed his contract in June of 2013. He won the MVP in 2008. ?
  7. The most Pedroia will be paid in straight salary over the life of a contract is the $16 million he will earn in 2018. The average annual value of his contract is $13.75 million, which ranks second among MLB second basemen to Ian Kinsler of the Texas Rangers, who signed a five-year, $75 million contract extension early in the 2012 season that pays him an average annual salary of $15 million, with $16 million his highest single-season salary. Not THAT much of a hometown discount.
  8. It was well below the Pedey offer imo. Wasn't Pedroia the highest paid 2b when the contract was signed?
  9. Deporting Pablo would definitely help clear cap space though...
  10. Bill Parcells once said that he always worried about his linemen over Thanksgiving as some of them could "put on their winter coat" over the course of a few days.
  11. Last year, Farrell saw him in January and said he looked good. One month later, he was back to blimp mode. I don't think checking in on him matters. It's up to Pablo to monitor himself.
  12. What's harder to do: win a WS with a large market team like the Sox or Cubbies, or getting an annual also ran like the Rays to win a WS?
  13. The same as they did last year: check in on him and hope for the best. If Pablo doesn't want to lose the weight or stay in shape, he just won't.
  14. As long as they do their best to keep him a Red Sox for his entire career, I'll be happy. Don't try to Lester him is all I'm saying...
  15. Definitely a better hire than if they put Tek in that position.
  16. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017-mlb-free-agent-tracker/positions-rp Unless Holland is cheap, I don't see the Sox grabbing another former closer. At best, they'll probably bring back Koji and pick up a guy like Joe Smith.
  17. I think Taz is done. He was overused for a long while and his arm seems completely shot. As Dojji said, I think Koji can still be used in a limited role. I just don't have the same confidence in Taz.
  18. I think not bringing Koji back is a mistake. I'd rather have too many arms in the pen than not enough.
  19. Not a chance.
  20. Should be a fun summer in Pawtucket!
  21. Tek was a terrible captain who let the clubhouse turn into an absolute disaster in 2011 and spent more time chasing reporter tail than keeping his fellow players in line.
  22. DD: Swihart back to being a full time C in 2017. No more OF.
  23. All squirrels are blind at birth.
  24. How much would it be to sign Greg Holland?
  25. Guess I'm an old guy now... Ouch.
