  1. Seriously though, aside from the ridiculous Bonds cheating seasons, Trout is the greatest player of all time.
  2. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/ct-yoan-moncada-strikeouts-spt-0315-20170314-story.html On Moncada: "He has the skill set to be a high-impact type player. We're taking it from the simplest fundamental basis." Which means enjoying the highs and working to eliminate the lows. "He's had some things where you go, 'He's not standing out from anybody,'" Renteria said. "Till he puts the barrel on the ball. Then you go, 'Ah.' When he barrels it, there's some life to it.'" Moncada is a fun lottery ticket, but I'd rather have a guy like Devers 9 out of 10 times.
  3. He'll be in AAA before my son is out of kindergarten.
  4. Devers doesn't have the K% issues that Moncada has. Devers is much more refined in his approach. Moncada is basically Bo Jackson. He's a freakish athlete that it getting by on his physique.
  5. Farrell is an ok manager. The right move would have been to dump him last year and upgrade to Lovullo. Right now, there isn't a better option in house or sitting at home.
  6. As the TS saying goes, he had a great rack in 2013 and was just a boob in 2014 and 2015.

  8. If Mike Trout stays healthy, he will be the greatest player of all time.
  9. The last pure guards taken #1 overall: Kyrie Irving John Wall Derrick Rose Allen Iverson Fultz has a ton of value. Trading him for a guy like Paul George would be a mistake imo.
  10. Sonny Gray has a .520 FIP and his K% is down. Let's beat up on this dink.
  11. And that's the main point. It's impossible to split hairs and blame a specific person for all the bad moves (Larry) and remove blame from someone else (Ben). At the end of the day, it's far easier to just give credit and blame to the acting GM at the time. Saying "Ben sucked in 2014 and 2015" is basically just saying "the front office sucked in 2014 and 2015."
  12. He seemed to be held back a little bit earlier in the year and was rarely used. http://www.fangraphs.com/statsd.aspx?playerid=4994&position=P I now wonder if they were just giving him extra rest after the WBC.
  13. JBJ is starting to hit.
  14. Nope, that 2011 team was good.
  15. Ok, I get it. Bosoxmal, you're off the hook.
  16. Fultz. He's a scorer. The C's could plug him in today and find minutes.
  17. This is pure speculation at best. There is no way to split hairs on who did what move. I say Ben is at fault for all of the moves of 2014/15 and gets all the credit for 2013 because we'll never know who was pushing for what. Ben was the top guy and everything lands at his desk.
  18. It would make him a bad GM, not a bad coach.
  19. We trained him well back in the postseason of 2013. He's also a welcome addition whenever he pops in and out over the season.
  20. I'm not here to litigate DD's shortcomings. This was just about the failures of 2014/2015 when Ben straight up trashed the place and put the Sox in a hole they are still trying to climb out of. If they re-sign Lester, they don't have to sign Price to a crazy deal as they already have their "ace." If the re-sign Miller, they don't have to trade for Kimbrel and they'd still have an additional stockpile of prospects in the pipeline. If they don't sign Pablo and Hanley, they have enough money to pick up another FA pitcher like Max Scherzer.
  21. Would you have rather lowballed Lester they way Ben did or re-signed him to the Cubs contract? Would you have rather signed Pablo and Hanley or gone in a different direction (Headley)?
  22. Are they not still trying to clean up the mess from the 2014/2015 moves? Was moving on from Lester the smartest play there? Maybe only if they were going to sign Max Scherzer that offseason. Was dumping Lackey for next to nothing a smart play? Was signing Pablo and Hanley in the same offseason the smart play? Ben took a s*** all over 2014 and 2015. You don't have to look any further than the season standings to see that.
