What is more surprising: his OWAR of 4.8 or his DWAR of 0.8?
His defense isn't gold glove caliber, but it's better than advertised so far. He seems to have better range than others we have thrown over there.
I deviate from points of view when new information is available. Not sure there has been any change in statistics on how often a player can reach 1b without actually touching it.
It's an issue that needs addressing by the coaching staff certainly. Otherwise, what's the point in even having a coaching staff at all? Aren't these guys fully formed after t-ball once they've learned all the rules? That seems to be what I'm told on here.
Took 2 out of 3 from the Rangers during July 4th. Split with the Yanks and Jays right after the break.
Only sweeps so far: Pirates, at Cards (2 games), Rangers (May) and at Jays (June 30 - July 2)
This would be their most impressive series by far this year.
I agree!
Very goof at WWBA WC
Also:
Underrated physical tools, 6.68 runner, has quick feet at third base, plenty of arm strength, can quicken up release and polish footwork but has all the tools to be a solid defender, also plays the outfield.
Chavis is a garbage defender.
Yesterday, someone asked what the plan would be for the rotation if they brought in another SP. I responded with "Price to 60 day DL and Fister to DFA." I wasn't trying to infer that he's on the 60 day DL now, just that it would be my plan if I was in charge.
His plate discipline has been the most surprising thing to me. He has a very mature approach at the plate. I heard some murmurs that he was going to really struggle with offspeed stuff in MLB, but it hasn't happened yet. We'll see what happens once his scouting report is out and they stop pitching away from him.
They need to stop running like complete idiots.

Sox are still worst at OOB (out on base). Can't stop running into outs. Lovullo's DBags are the best at not running into outs.
My platform on the changes that need to be made is:
be situationally aggressive
never slide headfirst into first base
if you hit the ball, your foot must always touch 1st base
Because they keep doing it. Devers, XBo and Pedroia have spent their entire professional careers in this system. This problem should have been weeded out by the time they got to MLB.
If he even jogged through the bag, he would have been safe. It's not silly to blame multiple parties in this situation.
If my wife is driving like a dummy, should I just sit back and say "well, she should have learned that when she was 16?" Of course not.
