  1. Now here is a really dumb post.
  2. Yup. He can't vest this year. Even if the Sox don't sign JD, they can't let that vest.
  3. Literally nothing exciting going on: @sdutdennislin Padres team official: The club's social media accounts, which posted and deleted Eric Hosmer items late last night, were hacked. As of now, it is unclear how that happened. Although teams run their respective accounts, they technically are assets controlled by MLB Advanced Media.
  4. Over the past 4 years, he's been below replacement value. Yuck. Might as well just throw Hernandez, Lin or Marrero out there. Not sure Beckham would even have a starting position in PAW.
  5. Contract runs until December 2021. Not sure what the players can do about it until then. Per the contract, it looks like the players can only strike if the owners violate the debt service rule and then don't reach an agreement to fix the level of excludable debt.
  6. 0 years. I wouldn't even want him back for a 1 day contract to retire as a Red Sox.
  7. Don't you start that.
  8. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
  9. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018-mlb-free-agent-tracker There are about 140 guys still waiting to be signed. It's frustrating for us, but is even harder for them.
  10. He’s not enough of an upgrade from the backup 2bs they already have.
  11. This offseason has been pretty terrible so far, but it could turn into such a wild signing period that could rival the excitement of the trade deadline.
  12. James Freakin Loney
  13. The frenzy is coming for Tony Clark.
  14. Please put posts like these in http://www.talksox.com/forum/forums/17-Red-Sox-Minor-Leagues It's a lovely forum and more traffic needs to be directed there. Thank you.
  15. Never say never. Devers was fast tracked last year. Chavis would have to continue his onslaught on AA pitching and maybe have a few weeks at AAA. Devers had a clearer path last year because of the gaping hole at 3b. They have the option to let Chavis mature a little more before bringing him up since DH/1b can be filled easier.
  16. I'd rather have Sale, Kimbrel and Pom than the guys we gave up.
  17. I agree 100%.
  18. To be a DH? What's the point in that? It'd make more sense to sign Moose to play DH at a shorter contract (and I don't even like that move). If they don't get JD, they should grab LoMo. He's probably the cheapest option out there.
  19. As are Devers and Beni.
  20. That's pumped up because of his abnormal 2017 where he had a .310+ BABIP that was very out of ordinary. Also, your time period rankings are BS as they don't take into account people who either retired during that time, changed positions, or entered the league.
  21. He's in his mid 30's and coming off a career year. He's only had 1 season as a top 10 SS. Projections have him as a negative oWAR guy in his first year of the 3 year deal.
  22. These posts should go here: http://www.talksox.com/forum/forums/17-Red-Sox-Minor-Leagues
  23. https://www.overthemonster.com/2018/1/22/16918542/red-sox-winter-weekend-2018-kimbrel-cora-dombrowski Notes from Winter Weekend: Beni cut his hair. Bad! Ortiz cut his hair. Good! Thornburg's surgery took out a rib which is now sitting on his parents mantle. Weird! Brock Holt looks terrible with a tucked in jersey. Chubby! Pom wants an extension. Ok! Porcello and Dana Levangie had an hour long phone call about ideas to turn next season around. Interesting! Blake Swihart believes he's finally back and has something to prove. In!
  24. @SPChrisHatfield Jay Groome coming in at number 83 on the @BaseballAmerica Top 100 is the lowest the club's top prospect has ever ranked in that publication's ranking, dating back to 1990.
  25. The only former Sox player ranked is Kopech at 11.
