  1. @redsoxstats In 20% of all plate appearances the team has taken middle-middle strikes on the first pitch, also the most in MLB. Yup.
  2. @redsoxstats In 33% of all Red Sox plate appearances they have taken a called strike in the zone on the first pitch. Next most is 29%. MLB average 27%. Sounds about right to me.
  3. He's basically the same exact player he was at 29 statistically, except now he added 20 more dingers somehow. He could be Brandon Moss. He could Bautista. Hard to say for sure.
  4. We promise that his arm is perfectly fine! Even the part that was damaged at the time we signed him!
  5. They've shown that they want Young as the 4th OF for better or worse. I think Margot would have been included in some other trade regardless. Guerra stinks and was overhyped. Logan Allen could be good, but is still far away.
  6. Yes, they should spend more. Will they? Who knows.
  7. What is dead may never die.
  8. Stanley's wild pitch.
  9. If someone is a sure bet, they're probably not reaching FA.
  10. If there's going to be a cliff, might as well go out like Thelma and Louise.
  11. That seems like more of an indictment on how horrible 1b's are now.
  12. That's all that happens on TS. What else are you here for?
  13. The mantra of the 2017 Boston Red Sox.
  14. I still can't think of one time that Moreland has picked a ball or made a difficult play on a throw.
  15. I agree. JD is who I go after. I just wonder if the Sox balk at the price tag.
  16. He goes in extended slumps and isn't a very good fielder. This year's numbers may be an abberation. If the money is right, it could be a good chance to take.
  17. Lies. They had 5 aces that year. Remember?
  18. Seeing that he won't even pitch until 2019, it was lucky that we dumped him when we did.
  19. This is very true. I think we are all hopeful that Betts/JBJ/Benny are truly franchise players. We just won't know for a few more years. A lot of players have had great starts to their careers and have disappeared. The real test of the organization is to see how they handle extending these young guys. They'll need to move on from the overrated ones and sign the really good ones. It'll be interesting to see. I have family in Tampa and Port St Lucie. Hope yours is doing ok.
  20. Asuaje is the only guy that could have really helped this team. He seems like a better version of Lin/Marrero/Holt. I'd still rather have an elite player than a bunch of pretty good ones.
  21. No here is something that definitely needs it's own thread..
  22. https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-red-sox/2016/10/15/every-david-ortiz-walk-off
  23. Barnes could earn a spot over the next 10 days.
  24. Can't say I've seen enough of Duda to be for or against him.
