  1. Dear John Henry, I know that you are an avid reader of TalkSox and I just wanted to let you know that I am available for any beer drinking that you need accomplished. Very truly yours, MVP 78
  2. You think Marrero would be a big step down?
  3. Way to bury the lede in Ortiz winning game 4 and staving off elimination.
  4. Um, in order for the Sox to not reach a cliff, they'll have to develop 3 aces? Pardon me, if I am going to disagree with that since they've remained competitive without developing an ace in forever.
  5. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BOS200310050.shtml You're also misremembering the A's series as well. I think Ortiz played an integral part in winning game 4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTVR2g61D50 Skip to 1:03:30
  6. Drawback? It was a feature. They dumped Farrell AND knew the coaching staff would be purged.
  7. Which is why there really is no cliff.
  8. Yes, I'm starting that rumor.
  9. Uh, yes because he's been so great at grinding through seasons and still being productive!
  10. You don't have to give me credit, just don't act like I've been saying it "forever." 2014 - negative WAR offensive player 2015 - injured and couldn't stay on the field and his defense had taken a step back (the year I started harping on him) 2016 - had a great season which I gave him credit for and said that it was the right time to move him as it would be selling high 2017 - negative WAR offensive player and couldn't stay on the field due to injuries
  11. Because of their market and their inability to get over the hump since going all out in 2008. It makes sense for them to do it. The Sox still have to have some sort of budget.
  12. Buck Showalter back to the Yanks. That'll heaten up the rivalry even more.
  13. I didn't watch the 2002 postseason. I was happy with how Ortiz played against the Yankees in 2003.
  14. I don't understand why the Sox don't have more interest in him.
  15. @redsoxstats Sox re-signed Aneury Tavarez on a minor league deal per @BaseballAmerica. Upper level OF depth real thin. Brentz, Selsky free agents.
  16. @NYPost_Mets Hearing that Mets bullpen coach Ricky Bones is a possibility to join Alex Cora's staff with the Red Sox. @redsoxstats Looking up Bones, seems like he was very popular in the Mets clubhouse and well respected around baseball. I assume YOTN would be very happy to have a coach on the staff named Bones.
  17. Addison Russell stinks. Pee yew.
  18. Chavis isn't playing 2B.
  19. He didn't say "there will be no offseason surgeries." Typical Canadian fake news.
  20. Skewed by one good playoff series against the Giants. He's an overrated choker.
  21. Can't hit in the postseason and is a large part of the Nats choking.
  22. Yours is fine. I think Trey Ball (for better or worse) gets put on the 40 long before Barfield does. However, I think DD signs enough guys prior to December that only Beeks, Martin and Mars are added from your 6 guys. I'm not sure Cozart or Haley are good enough to worry about someone drafting them. I'm a big fan of Beeks. I think Martin is fine as a AAAA guy that is called up for relief innings (was protected prior to last year's draft). Danny Mars could see some time in BOS next year depending on injury as the Sox are still not keen on bringing Castillo up.
  23. Yup, he's the guy that puts the butts in the seats (there are still a lot of empty seats there though).
