  1. If his stuff wasn't good enough for the s***** Royals, I have no idea where he could go.
  2. His next contract isn't coming until he's 33. I'm not sure he'd be getting a big deal then anyway. I think there's a chance he pops up the end of next year and then is on a MLB team in 2020. He could force their hand through his play, but he has yet to do that.
  3. Sox would be 28-0 if it weren't for the following things: Pomeranz Holt JD Martinez's defense Alex Cora being a nOOb who can't manage a bullpen
  4. No. He has 4 k's in 2 starts in AAA this year. Not worth moving anyone on this roster to AAA for.
  5. Honestly, MLBPA has screwed themselves that past few CBA's. I hope the nonsense of the last offseason convinces them to bargain a little harder next time.
  6. Reasons Kimbrel needs to be re-signed: 1. he's a really good closer 2. there is no other good backup option if he walks 3. he seems like a nice guy and has dealt with Boston media and fans without issue 4. large red beard
  7. How did Rusney get hosed? He's getting paid no matter what.
  8. Nope. Rusney is fine where he is.
  9. Slide wasn't legal. He slid past the bag. You can't do that anymore. If the ball was thrown to 1st, we would have seen what the umps thought of the slide. However, no challenge could be made because no thrown was made.
  10. You don't feel bad for the owner losing out on a few million? Seems like it's a big concern for people around here!
  11. But if you could have saved money on payroll, you totally would have just moved on from Mariano though.
  12. Dotal had one save in May, one in August and one in September. That hardly constitutes "handling the role".
  13. Fox wasn't a fall guy so much as he was just injured and was released at the end of July. Saying Fox only blew 3 games is odd since he only pitched in 10 games before he was injured and Kim was brought in before Fox returned to the pen. It basically went Fox (injured) to Lyon (meh) to Kim. Yes, the struggles were that every option in the pen kinda sucked. Kim and Timlin were the best of a mediocre bunch. But that kinda proves the point that you can't put out mediocre options and expect to have success. You need the big horses (aka Foulke) to anchor the pen. If the 2003 team had Foulke, they would have won the WS.
  14. He did put them over the top in the ALCS tho. The WS was an afterthought.
  15. Their closer from the prior year s*** the bed in April. Then they went primarily to Salas and switched to Motte towards the end of the year. I'd say Sanchez, Motte and Salas were all fairly dominant that year.
  16. This is how I feel about it. My childhood was haunted by the ghosts of Schiraldi and Stanley's passed ball.
  17. He may not have the talent a guy like Pomeranz has, but Velazquez just knows how to pitch. I think the role he has now is perfect for him. Not sure I want him starting every fifth day. This is a better fit.
  18. You can trade his talent for a minor league player at least. No reason to just dump him. He has value.
  19. Heard he likes party pizza and coffee milk!
  20. See, JD can play OF.
  21. Hope he likes Federal Hill.
  22. @jcmccaffrey Spent the day in Fort Myers with Dustin Pedroia as he works out in extended spring training. He's expecting to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Pawtucket on May 12 and is targeting May 25 as his return date to the Red Sox.
