  1. We all know what changed, he got injured and hasn't been the same since. Prior to being scratched for rib discomfort: 902 OPS 4/30 After being scratched for rib discomfort: 465 OPS 5/4-6/18, plus AAA numbers and metrics that are down from '24 He was playing great up until the injury. He needs an offseason more than almost anyone else.
  2. Trying to turn him into a super sub was an "interesting" decision to say the least. It's not the route I would have gone. If you think he has a chance at 2b, you leave him there for a few years. If you think he's better off in the OF, just put him out there. This is a case where the org's value of versatility has hurt a player's development. They also admitted that Kristian was rushed and skipped some developmental steps along the way. If so, shame on them TBH.
  3. The last time he played it was for Lowell. It must have been pretty rough if they never tried moving him back to the IF because there were A LOT of growing pains in the OF with him.
  4. It's something an older AM radio guy in the Boston area would do when talking about sports back in the day. When assigning blame, he'd call it "the blame pie."
  5. "Coruh, go out there and tell 'em Breggie's cooked and can't go in the playoffs. That way we gots leverage in the negotiations, see..."
  6. If I was factoring out the blame pie, Anthony would definitely get the largest piece with Breggie getting a decent sized slice as a top of the order bat. Duran has been ok, but not a lightning bolt. Abreu goes through long cold streaks anyway so it's not a huge miss IMO. Bottom of the order really doesn't register to me. I was only annoyed by Wong early on because I thought of him as a bad glove guy. Since his glove has been better, I can overlook the bad offense.
  7. If I had to order the blame on the reasons for the offensive swoon: 1. Anthony injury 2. Breggie 3. Duran mediocre season 4. Abreu injury 5. Bottom of the order guys hitting like bottom of the order guys
  8. He's not going to be on the playoff roster because his hitting has been so bad apparently. 🫠
  9. When has Sammy ever lied to us?
  10. When you look at the splits, there is definitely a huge Petco Park factor at play. He's having a very good year, but his numbers wouldn't be as good if he was pitching elsewhere.
  11. He can play corner OF. It's not pretty all the time, but he can play it. His bat still isn't where it was last season no matter how much we want it to be. I think he hurt himself earlier this season (ribs or oblique, don't remember) and never quite recovered and it has impacted his swing.
  12. I don't know where you got that idea from?
  13. NYY's cake schedule is why FanGraphs gives them a 99% playoffs chance. However, Sox sweep, plus 7 vs BAL isn't as easy as it looks. BAL has been pretty good if you ignore the first two months of the season or whatever. They won't rollover. Maybe BAL can pull a miracle and replicate '11 again?
  14. I agree. I'm worried about the Sox getting into the playoffs, not the other teams. If the Sox go 8-7 or better, they should get in.
  15. I agree. He didn't show anything in the pen in AAA. He has never been impressive to me. They've had him for two years and he hasn't made an on field jump the way other pitchers have. It would just be a different story if he could be a bulk innings guy and maybe he eventually becomes a starter. They have too many young pitchers they are already squeezing onto the 40 man. Someone is going to get left out.
  16. It's the difference between his first start (secondary pitches were working) and his last two (secondaries weren't working).
  17. '25 Sox - 4 games up on TEX '11 Sox - 5.5 games up on TBR Sox just need to keep doing their thing and go 9-6 or 8-7. 95% chance of playoffs per FanGraphs. TEX next 6: NYM/HOU
  18. A couple of years before my time. The managers of my childhood didn't leave me with warm and fuzzy feelings. I'd have Joe Morgan ranked towards the top somewhere.
  19. They should have sent Duran on the flyball in the 1st. It would have been a risky play, but I think Duran's speed forces a quick, inaccurate throw. I think IFers are typically more accurate when fielding and throwing the ball home than OF plays at the plate.
  20. At this point, it's only a few appearances. Not sure it's a big deal. Maybe trying to hide him from evaluators and models? IDK.
  21. I guess I was the lone person who thought he could get one? Anyone else? I thought it was probably 50/50.
  22. Campbell is a terrible SS. He has no range and a poor arm for the left side of the IF. If he was going to be an MLB caliber SS, Georgia Tech wouldn't have pushed him to 2b IN HIS AGE 21 SEASON. David Hamilton played SS for Texas at age 19 and 20 and nobody on here wants him anywhere near SS for the BoSox. Being good at SS in HS means nothing. If he wasn't good enough to play SS at Georgia Tech, he shouldn't be good enough to play in Boston.
  23. I was just listing all the guys that hadn't been added to the 40 man yet that the Sox need to make a decision on (could be added, dealt or potentially picked).
