  1. Not to go too far down the rabbit hole on Johnson's anxiety (which we'll do eventually anyway), but from everything I have read he was having concerns over regaining his health. He was worried that his arm would force him to retire and a lot of his stress was due to wondering what his life will be like after baseball. Maybe now that his injury is in the past his anxiety is probably much more manageable. I don't think he gives up a homerun and he slumps back to his hotel room worrying that he'll have to retire. No reason to treat him with kid gloves. Also, I'm a firm believer that the Sox didn't screw up Cla Meredith. If Meredith was good enough, he would have rebounded at some point. Do the people that think the Sox killed Cla Meredith's career also think the Sox killed Charlie Zink's career?
  2. So then leaving Johnson in to give up a bomb should be fine and not an issue.
  3. Doubtful. I'm sure the ChiSox would have still wanted Moncada. The trade "could" have been Moncada and Espinoza. That's all just conjecture though. We can't just slot players into a trade and say the other team would have rather had guy A if guy B wasn't available.
  4. 1. Not really impressed. 2. If it's s***** and difficult, let a robot do it. That's what we do in every other industry.
  5. Lots of bells and whistles.
  6. If DD had held onto him, he'd have a damaged goods prospect that hasn't thrown a pitch in forever.
  7. Why not rest him for a game where you actually need him? Why not build up Johnson's arm strength to the point where he can go 7 IP most nights?
  8. Keep rolling to 117
  9. And if anxiety is still a concern, they better not let him pitch in the playoffs.
  10. Start at $15x4 and see how far he wants to go. I'd see going $17.5x4 and stopping at that. I'd want him for cheaper though. Maybe more money at shorter years like $20x2? After two years, he'd still be young enough to get another decent payday in FA elsewhere.
  11. If one home run ruins his psyche, he should just hang up his cleats now.
  12. The only problem is that Thunder will be up to his eyeballs in coeds once October rolls around and he won't have any time left for us old farts.
  13. 1. The steroid talk never goes anywhere productive. 2. Weird that Jacko has a boner about Chavis even though the Yankees had Clemens, Pettitte, Sheffield, Giambi, Cano, ARod, Cabrera, Cervelli, Montero, Knoblauch, Brown, Grimsley, Justice, Leyritz, Morris, Stanton, Velarde, and many more...
  14. Herrera will probably be much cheaper. If Kimbrel's price tag gets too high, they should just grab him.
  15. Seeing that the highest paid closer is currently paid $17M, I'm not sure Kimbrel gets $20.
  16. A miniscule mistake that cost the team 0 wins.
  17. They have a substantial lead in the division. They are going to stick it out with Pom.
  18. But don't you feel sorry for that ump? It must have been scary to sit there with a 90 mph ball being thrown at him!
  19. No, it's terrible.
  20. No one is asking for an automated game. We want a fairly officiated game.
  21. Pom gets a lot of those "just one more" starts. I'll be glad when he's gone a la Buchholz.
  22. How about a home plate ump with google glass or something that will tell him if a ball was in the zone?
  23. Sounds about right to me.
