  1. Cut Devers because of his high salary. We know what he's done recently. Instead of signing a FA, they are trading away a substantial part of their farm (not sustainable).
  2. Those ticket prices must have inflated though!
  3. I think this is the only question that remains. Maybe the surgery or rehab didn't go well? Maybe they now have options that are even better than pre-TJS Sandoval. If so, they may be able to deal Sandoval and save some money towards the cap.
  4. Arias probably has at least two years to go. At that point, I'm not sure if the Sox pick up the option for 2028 Story. They may not overlap very long on the MLB roster TBH. Most likely it would be Mayer/Arias in the middle if Breslow had his way. Gonzales spending the next three years (Duran's control) in the minors seems fine to me, but is still a long ways away and has a good shot of not making it. He hasn't yet developed the in game power that scouts have projected. If we're still playing fantasy farm, Soto moves to 3b as his arm can play over there and his body fills out. He adds the projected power and takes over for Bregman. Godbout is going to hit the crap out of the ball. He'll be nice injury insurance for Mayer and is either a good bench guy to have or Craig deals him if he's really hitting well at AAA. Romero is traded this year. What about Allen Castro? j/k Hector Ramos is a better fit as the UTIL replacement for the guys mentioned above. A guy who could reach the bigs near Justin Gonzales, but has a wide variance is Harold Rivas. If his hit tool works out and he hits stateside, he should climb the ladder pretty quick. Big exit velos and great defense will get him to stick around for a while. The only other offensive guys I'd mention would be Luke Heyman and Adonys Guzman. We haven't seen these two catchers yet, but the Sox sorely needs these two and they could move up really quick.
  5. What's the definition of spending level? I think it should be based on where you are in relation to the rest of the league. 2018 1st 2019 1st 2025 7th (CBT) 2025 12th (Year End 40 Man)
  6. I thought the only reason Sandoval was projected to be in the rotation was because of his MLB guaranteed contract. If I had to power rank the arms, he wouldn't be in the top 5. He probably gets the first crack at a rotation spot because other arms have MiLB options though.
  7. Gio is worth the contract, but is he an upgrade over Early over the next two seasons?
  8. I think Breggie's AAV will be higher than 23M, but they will trade someone else off the roster to get the number below the 2nd threshold.
  9. I think he starts the season on the IL and spends the first half in AAA.
  10. Red Sox have reportedly made an "aggressive" offer to Bregman according to Buster Olney.
  11. Sonny Gray: 10th in SP fWAR '24-'25 Contreras: 17th in fWAR '24-'25 and 30th wRC+ from '24-'25 (tied with Corbin Carroll, Ryan O'hearn, Josh Naylor) As others have said, adding Bo/Breggie/Marte to that makes this offseason a GOOD offseason.
  12. Pumpsie's posts tend to flop worse than the 2022 Red Sox TBF.
  13. Yes, they have been active on the trade market. 1. Heyman for Hoppe 2. Ward for Bernardino 3. Hernandez for Murphy 4. Gray for Guerrero 5. Gray for Clarke, Fitts, PTBNL 6. Oviedo, Samiego, Guzman for Garcia and Travieso 7. Jackson for Grissom 8. Watson for Reimer 9. Bennett for Perales 10. Contreras for Dobbins, Fajardo, Aita
  14. We've had falling iguana weather this week! Absolutely brutal down here. 😮‍💨
  15. Bo's market hasn't seemed to be really crazy and he's younger than the over 30 guys. It shouldn't be a hard pill to swallow IMO. He's a lesser talent today, but he'll be a better IFer than Marte or Bregman 3 years from now.
  16. It may work on BTV, but Rays would have no interest in this trade. They wouldn't want to take on two additional 40 man spots. Wong and Masa are net negatives in the trade. Hamilton also probably doesn't start ahead of Palacios in their minds and they've spent a lot of high draft picks on 2b recently.
  17. Part of it is trying to move the ball faster and get the deal over sooner than later IMO. I don't think he wants a strict deadline, but don't believe he wants this dragging out until February.
  18. Marte - really depends on the trade, but leaning towards good Bo - good Bregman - good, but really depends on the deal
  19. What do you mean by "consider this an offseason?"
  20. Don't have much to add at the moment, but figured it's time to start a new thread. I'm glad that Breslow has started to add to the catching position. The pitching side of the org will be fun to watch early on this year. Arias didn't hit much in AA, but we will learn a lot about his future in '26. My early pick is Godbout for org POTY.
  21. 1b has been generally undervalued. I agree that Contreras will go a long way to help the IF.
  22. I'm not all in on Donovan as others are. If they only bring him in, it will leave me unfulfilled. I like Hamilton. I may like Hamilton more than the Sox do considering his playing time. I think his defense is valued too highly on bref though.
