  1. Now that is a name I haven't heard in a long time. A long time.
  2. I'll be a broken record and say Darwinzon Hernandez.
  3. I don't believe HS kids are ever expected to be locks. There's always extra risk with those guys.
  4. One great season and a lot of decent ones. If he isn't playing like 2015, he's not worth the contract he's going to get.
  5. No. I think it's too late to transition Ball. If he gets good, he'll start burning through option years before he's really ready. When you have a top 10 pick, you need to nail it. Outside of the top 10 it becomes more of a guessing game than it already is. The Sox "lucked" into Groome, but it hasn't worked out. Groome had an ace ceiling and you grab that guy every time. Ball was just an "athlete" that they overvalued.
  6. Page 1 out of his playbook.
  7. They've never actually said that he's given up pitching, only that he's going to start working on hitting. I wonder if they try to keep him doing both.
  8. Good enough that he pitched the final 3 outs of the World Series and fanned the side. He also went 1-0 against the Yankees in the ALDS with a hold in the deciding game 4.
  9. Trey Ball. Sox couldn't have foreseen Groome's injuries. The 2013 draft had some really great prospects taken right after Ball. Groome was also taken 5 picks later than Ball was.
  10. Never ever. I think Groome will have too many health problems and will probably retire in the next 5 years. I think Mata is just going to hit a ceiling in the upper minors. I know he's young, but a 1.6 WHIP in A ball isn't great. He doesn't have overwhelming stuff and can't strike anyone out. Unless you have Maddux like control or a pitch that induces lots of ground balls, it's hard to walk that tight rope. It also doesn't help that he started to walk about as many people as he struck out last year.
  11. I think Machado should get paid, he's a great player heading to the HOF if he stays healthy. I just don't get Harper. He had one otherworldly season, but that's it. For 2016 - 2018, his total fWAR stands as #34, behind Didi, Carpenter and Segura. I don't know. I just think that guy is all hype.
  12. Hernandez - relief Groome - doesn't make the majors Shawaryn - AAAA reliever/spot starter Mata - doesn't make the majors Houck - relief
  13. And your metrics last offseason put the Yankees on top in 2018 too. How'd that work out?
  14. They are still going to sign another guy or two to the pen. This is far from a complete squad. At the very least, bringing up Hernandez and Feltman could be a good shot in the arm to the middle relief. The Sox are pretty high on Lakins as well.
  15. The only risk I run in acting like a 12 year old girl is that I run the risk of you starting to flirt with me in my DM's and sending me pictures of your insignificant junk. No thank you sir!
  16. This offseason has been boring as s***.
  17. Continuing to prove my point I see...
  18. As long as you continue to post like it's your first day on the internet, I'll continue to whine.
  19. That's not how this works here.
  20. I guess the debate would be "does BW only find weird blogs to repost that hate on the Red Sox"?
  21. Do you ever try to find anything meaningful to post?
  22. For real tho. He's not the bogeyman people make him out to be.
  23. Note: the best way to negotiate is by saying "I want to work as close to home as possible" as it excludes 50%+ of all potential suitors.
  24. Seth Jones - NHL Popeye Jones - NBA Grant Hill - NBA Calvin Hill - NFL Sloane Stephens - Tennis John Stephens - NFL LJ Shelton - NFL Lonnie Shelton - NBA
