    The argument, the owners shouldn’t have to pay 8-10 year contracts to superstar players doesn’t hold water with me. Mookie is worth a ton to the Sox. Paying him 12/420 would be a net positive to the team. Henry owns a baseball team, a soccer team, the Boston Globe, NESN, a NASCAR team and more. He can and should pay for Mookie.

    The big question is “what does ownership want”? To me, it seems they are more concerned with saving on payroll than winning.

    My point is that people are quick to remember 2019 failures, but even quicker to forget 2018 successes. Will they all evert to 2018 form? Probably not, but I won’t rule it out.

    1. Mookie for one year plus 4th round pick. 2. Resetting the lux tax, Verdugo with potentially career shortening back issues, Gonsolin and someone else. IDK, but option 2 sounds pretty good.

    Because not every back injury derails a career. If they really want to move Betts, a Dodgers package with Verdugo is still better than the Padres one.
