  1. I think Theo and DD were able to move the needle a little bit. Bloom and Breslow are not. They don't have the juice with Henry. Maybe Breslow just doesn't want to spend either because of what the models say?
  2. If it goes back to AGon and before, it's obviously JH.
  3. If we found out he was, he'd be banned.
  4. There's no way the Sox should give Suarez 3 years. No. I'd rather they go any other route than that.
  5. I agree. I think the rotation is very strong and people are underselling Gray. The bullpen is decent, but could use another arm. This is really different from the lineups we've seen the previous 60 years as it's pitcher heavy and the offense feels light. The top of the lineup just seems really weak and incomplete to me. For a team that is supposedly trying to be in the playoff picture, I think they need to figure it out really quick.
  6. Sox aren't paying that.
  7. It's year 3 of Breslow, we may start to hear murmurs around the trade deadline like we did in year 3 of Bloom.
  8. Breggie wanted this deal to be his last team. He saw the Sox trade Devers away midseason. I think he knew they would also be willing to spin Breggie to another club at some point. Going back to AGon and CC, the Sox have only given partial no trade clauses. Why? "Organizational philosophy."
  9. The Sox had a big offer out there, I guess they just didn't want to take it one step further to adjust their deferrals and add a no trade clause. Sox just do the "take it or leave it" thing and players always end up leaving.
  10. I think that's the real rub. He should be a very good to great player as he grows, but it will be his first full MLB season. Expecting him to lead the team offensively is just too much at this point.
  11. Suarez is an awful fielder and k's too much. The only good thing is that he likes pulling the ball. Maybe he's a guy that gets hot for a month or two. Not sure I'd want him for more than a year.
  12. If he's on the IL for 7 weeks, they'll get a 4th ARB year for Casas. They should a billion % do that. He has a serious injury and he's not going to be ready for ST or Opening Day.
  13. Cora wanted to move on from Devers and have his buddy Bregman around. He just didn't realize that Breslow wouldn't be able to get a contract across the finish line. I wonder if he's having second thoughts now with that big hole at the top of the lineup?
  14. There are only so many moves that are available to him. It has been reported that he's not able to work with very many teams which is why he keeps going back to the Cardinals to make deals. He is financially strung by the models and/or JH so the best FA's will never come here long term. At some point, he'll run out of prospects to deal (Sox already ranked 14th on BA). If there's a plan B, it probably isn't as good for 2026-7 as Bregman would have been. I don't think the Bregman deal would have been a slam dunk to work out, but we were told that the Sox are in a WS contention window right now. If so, they aren't acting like it.
  15. We can't speak to what JH will do, only what to the ramifications are for going over each CBT threshold. If you can afford to go over the 1st, you may as well go over the 2nd IMO! The 3rd is a different issue as it impacts draft strategy and I can see how that is a no go for many organizations.
  16. NO 2022: 240M Devers signs extension 2023: 214M 2024: 222M 2025: 243M 2026: 234M+? How is the Devers extension the demarcation line? '23 and '24 were both lower than '22? '25 was basically flat from '22.
  17. What on here has been a ringing endorsement of Cole's contributions in 2026? 1. The Yankees "may get Cole at some point." 2. Hope it's a roller coaster season for him. Him getting projected for 2 fWAR in a partial season is still a lot more than they got out of him last year, no? Good enough to replace last year's 5th starter. Per Reports, Rodon will be back mid-April to early May and is already throwing.
  18. Bello is expected to be on the IL at the start of the season to since water is wet.
  19. Speier initially suggested the Sox not wanting to go over the 2nd threshold. I agree with others on here that there is functionally no difference between going over the 1st and 2nd thresholds. May as well go all the way up towards 284 and the 3rd. Unless yer el cheapo!
  20. Cole should be back this season, you just hope it's a roller coaster first season back from TJS type year.
  21. I chose 2019 because that's the dividing line for this franchise. If I went with the beginning of 2023, the Yankees would still be kicking the Sox ass (win%, playoff appearances).
  22. I didn't put my top 5 in any particular order to be clear.
