  1. The Bregman deal was less of an overpay than the Alonso one. Alonso last 3 years: 8.5 fWAR Bregman last 3 years: 12.1 fWAR
  2. He says the same thing every time he misses out on a deal. Why would this time be any different?
  3. It's not an overpay if that's what the market is bearing. Two teams were in that ballpark. Last year, another team was up there too.
  4. It's the point in the offseason where it's almost "best player available." They can still bring in a premium player at another position and grab a stopgap for 3b (like Arenado).
  5. I'm worried about regression with Giolito's numbers too. His ERA should be closer to his FIP or worse next season. He was lucky as all get out in '25.
  6. Per AJ Pierzyski, Breggie was frustrated the Sox didn't meet his market after their initial offer. Breggie went back to them with the higher offer from the Cubs and the Sox didn't believe it existed. Refused to bring their offer up as it would be bidding against themselves.
  7. That is not true. A lot of accountants die in their chairs. Many public firms can't get their partners to retire and churning those spots to younger senior managers.
  8. I don't think it's likely that they acquire Donovan AND Arenado. Probably one or the other.
  9. All we know is the Sox got outbid again.
  10. Notin referenced Ranger Suarez in the post before mine.
  11. Would you rather Giolito in the rotation or Early? I'd rather Early.
  12. If he retires, the remaining money comes off the CBT.
  13. Twitter probably loses its mind everyday about the Red Sox. Should the FO care? It's about putting the best team on the field that it can afford.
  14. If they bring in Paredes, they are done for the offseason. Zero chance they sign Suarez considering the money it would take and the QO attached.
  15. InEpstein wasn't a common term used on this site. FranCOMA got a lot of run though.
  16. He's a better to above average 3b now. He'd be Eugenio Suarez level 4-5 years from now. Would be fine with me TBH.
  17. Cubs offer was more money sooner and with a no trade clause. Sox just didn't really come close enough. Breggie had the Sox offer in hand for a long time and wasn't happy with it. The second he got the offer from the Cubs he signed.
  18. I just put this post on the blockchain. If anyone wants to buy NFT's of notin's old posts, let me know.
  19. I was really high on him last offseason, but he just wasn't ready. He needs to go to AAA, play ONE position and earn his way back. I think he can do that, but it won't be before the ASB.
  20. Henry wanted Bloom to make more deadline moves, but Bloom was unable to. I think Henry wanted Bloom to be a longer term guy like Theo ("he wrote The Rays Way"). They'll definitely be over the first threshold. However, since they are over they should go up to the 3rd threshold. It's just money.
  21. He shouldn't have been. I wanted Campbell to be the 2b, but I wanted Campbell to earn the spot first and foremost. He wasn't ready. He had a bad spring. His defense was also horrible. Apparently, internal models still grade his 2b defense highly but they still moved him to LF??? The only reason he got the spot was because he signed the extension. That's not how you should build the roster.
  22. Their limit was 300M, not 365M. They either wanted a lower AAV or didn't want to go the additional 2 years. There was money for Betts at some point. They just gave him a take it or leave it offer. That 12/365M seems like a steal at this point for a true superstar like Betts.
  23. The Great American Ballpark would be much better for Masa's swing than Fenway. Not sure how likely a deal would be.
  24. 2025: Giolito 145 IP, 7.51 K, 3.48 bb, 3.41 ERA, 4.59 xFIP, 2.0 fWAR Gray 180 IP, 10.01 k, 1.89 bb, 4.28 ERA, 3.07 xFIP, 3.6 fWAR Aside from ERA, Gray had a much better season than Giolito last year. If you cross out the names, 90% of people pick the guy who threw 180 IP with a better k/bb rate.
  25. Whoever they sign next, even if it's a reliever, is just going to get all crapped over. Any 3b they bring in won't be good enough as the franchise really sold fans on Bregman.
