  1. Their limit was 300M, not 365M. They either wanted a lower AAV or didn't want to go the additional 2 years. There was money for Betts at some point. They just gave him a take it or leave it offer. That 12/365M seems like a steal at this point for a true superstar like Betts.
  2. The Great American Ballpark would be much better for Masa's swing than Fenway. Not sure how likely a deal would be.
  3. 2025: Giolito 145 IP, 7.51 K, 3.48 bb, 3.41 ERA, 4.59 xFIP, 2.0 fWAR Gray 180 IP, 10.01 k, 1.89 bb, 4.28 ERA, 3.07 xFIP, 3.6 fWAR Aside from ERA, Gray had a much better season than Giolito last year. If you cross out the names, 90% of people pick the guy who threw 180 IP with a better k/bb rate.
  4. Whoever they sign next, even if it's a reliever, is just going to get all crapped over. Any 3b they bring in won't be good enough as the franchise really sold fans on Bregman.
  5. Arenado: good Pull AIR% good defender good bb% good k% Sox could do worse at 3b TBH. The Sox had him in their crosshairs last offseason so we know they had some interest.
  6. Arenado is still a great fielder at 3b. It would keep Rafaela in CF. It's not ideal, but it's where we're at right now I guess. Plan D. E?
  7. I meant "only bit parts going forward." I consider Contreras and Gray as certainly more than bit parts. If they got another bat on Contreras's level it'd be HUGE.
  8. It was the combination of the no trade and the deferrals being not competitive compared to the Cubs. 🫠
  9. Yeah, if you are bidding in the FA market, you're going to have to ignore your internal models and overpay when you are competing with other bidders. If you're being rational all the time, all the good players will go elsewhere and you won't retain your players are bring on new ones.
  10. Reminding everyone that he has scouted HS games.
  11. In a vacuum, Rafaela would be "fine" at 2b. It just makes the team worse. His best position is CF. There is no reason to move him off that spot. I'd rather go with Romy/Hamilton at 2b TBH.
  12. Let's move this guy to 2b, a position that doesn't require much range!
  13. We have a rich history of nonsense on here.
  14. I'd rather have Arenado at 3b than Rafaela at 2b. Rafaela is an average IF glove. It's been noted going back to his MiLB days. He's not going to be a gold glover there. You are rearranging the deck chairs, but making the team worse.
  15. Lots of personal beefs to go around like you and moon.
  16. Cubs had deferrals too, but the Sox deferrals made the offer non-competitive to the Cubs' apparently. 🫠
  17. After the first four, the rotation has Early, Tolle, Harrison, Sandoval, Crawford... It's good depth until some of them get traded. I think Chapman takes a step back for sure, but could still be decent. No clue what the plan is for the lineup. Big hole at the top.
  18. Rafaela is a below average bat and an average 2b. His entire value is locked into playing CF.
  19. Ok, then yes, very silly of the Sox. Sometimes you have rules that you need to move on from. This seems like one of them.
  20. They aggressively wanted to make sure that they could still trade him at any point in the future.
  21. I'm sure some posters haven't ruled you out from being Babe or Dutchy though. 🤔
  22. If they are basically done an only add bit parts: C- (I like Sonny Gray a lot more the most posters on here)
  23. You are definitely not. We would have figured it out a long time ago. He has a very distinctive posting style.
  24. What's the silly part? That Bregman wanted a no trade clause or that the Sox wouldn't give one?
