  1. They shouldn't trade Beckett, CC and AGon for Rubby and Alan Webster! That's not a good enough deal for the Sox! We're tanking this season! It makes the Dodgers better in 2013 and 2014! We'll have no shot in 2013!
  2. There aren't many trades that I can remember for a one year rental where you got the types of players you are looking for.
  3. I'd rather have Mookie too, but I think the FO's goal is to shed salary and they don't seem to have any takers for Price.
  4. I want MORE bat flips. Bunting died when those Yankee idiots didn't bunt off of Schilling in the playoffs.
  5. Just as an FYI, the Navy denied this report. The status of his waiver has still been undecided.
  6. The only difference is that the Astros are being much more public with bringing guys in. Here, it's been radio silence. Honestly, I care far more about dealing Betts/Price at this point. I think the Sox could be fine with just running Ron Roenicke out there as interim with no bench coach for ST.
  7. Except they'd possibly be bringing Myers back.
  8. I think Bloom is just being patient and waiting on the best offer possible. I bet a trade gets done prior to players arriving in the Fort.
  9. Sox only need two teams to work with to get a decent deal for Mookie. Helps that Marte went to the DBags.
  10. I think people are overestimating what a return for Mookie right now should be.
  11. Nah, I think the trade approximates fair value of ONE YEAR OF MOOKIE.
  12. It'd be dumb to. Perfect way to wreck a fanbase for a decade.
  13. #2 has worked for the Sox pretty well. No reason for a complete teardown.
  14. Robot umps and no more pitchers hitting. What a time to be alive!!!!!
  15. @Feinsand Red Sox are still in the thick of their managerial interview process. Per source, Boston is unlikely to make a hire before next week.
  16. @jimcallisMLB I'm assuming there's some overlap with those above-average & elite tools. Dalbec was not far off, feels like he's been very close the last 2-3 times we've done the list. Good D at 3B, won't budge Devers, could win @RedSox 1B job. #Top100Prospects
  17. @JimBowdenGM There is a growing belief amongst NL GM’s that the DH will be instituted for NL as early as 2021. FWIW.
  18. Do you have moon on ignore?
  19. Why divided by 3?
  20. The lux tax for Myers is 13.8M. My guess is that it would be 1/4 less if he was traded to the Sox, so about 10.35M? The trade would save the sox about 17M.
  21. https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/padres/story/2020-01-27/padres-mookie-betts-red-sox-wil-myers-cal-quantrill-manuel-margot Multiple sources, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the talks between the teams, said the Padres are willing to send two young major leaguers and at least one prospect to Boston along with Myers in exchange for Betts, the 2018 American League MVP. But in order for the Padres to assume the $27 million salary due Betts on what would essentially be a one-year rental, the team wants the Red Sox to come up significantly in the portion of Myers’ contract they are willing to pay. Myers is owed $61 million over the next three seasons, and the Red Sox are offering to assume about half that. Sources said the Padres would prefer to eat only about a quarter of the money owed Myers in order to take on Betts’ salary. The Padres, the sources said, are willing to include outfielder Manuel Margot or Josh Naylor and starting pitcher Cal Quantrill or Joey Lucchesi in the deal.
  22. The plan is to hire internally. The next manager will already be down in Fort Myers when the players start showing up. Honestly, the only difference right now is that players would report to a bench coach rather than a manager. This is supposed to be more concerning that getting under a salary tax and fielding a team?
  23. You've changed man...
  24. That was before he retired.
  25. That's up to Bloom to do the math.
