  1. And if it was mentioned, we never spoke of it on here per searching "Senzel."
  2. It was reported by some guy at the Athletic yesterday. I didn't hear about him being included the first go around.
  3. No matter what, I think Bloom wants as much wiggle room as possible. If the Sox go on a run and are in the hunt at the deadline, it would be nice for them to grab a guy or two and not worry about going over the CBT.
  4. At least we know what the conversation is at the kids' table these days.
  5. The trade now reportedly includes the Reds who would send Senzel to the Padres.
  6. https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2020/02/boston-red-sox-trade-rumors-potential-wil-myers-trade-could-involve-three-teams-with-reds-included-report.html Though the extension Myers signed in Jan. 2017 calls for him to be paid $61 million ($20 million each season plus a $1 million buyout) through 2022, he’ll cost significantly less against the competitive balance tax threshold. Because Myers -- whose total deal was worth $83 million over six years -- has a backloaded deal, the CBT hit (which is based on average annual value) will be just $13.83 million in each season. If the Sox took on half -- say, $30 million -- of Myers’ remaining salary, they’d take a CBT hit of less than $4 million in each of the next three years. The math is complicated, but that number comes from the money that would be sent from San Diego to Boston being equally spread over the remaining three years, lowering the CBT hit in each season. That scenario would be palatable for the Red Sox 2020, with their projected payroll then estimated to still be less than $200 million.
  7. He couldn't be any worse. At least we'd have a more entertaining game to watch.
  8. I think it was because the Stros system was specifically designed from a live camera feed. The Sox were just using the baserunner on second to stare at the catcher's fingers. Does seem a little different to me. Like if the Sox bench had figured out the 3b coach's signs and relayed those to the players, would that be illegal?
  9. No more shaking off.
  10. @PeteAbe RHP Chih-Jung Liu, the hard-throwing 20-year-old from Taiwan the #RedSox signed in October, should arrive in Fort Myers on Friday or Saturday. Sox are eager to get working with him.
  11. @jcmccaffrey Sale’s second side session since coming back from pneumonia. He threw on Monday as well. https://twitter.com/jcmccaffrey/status/1230527925079793664
  12. Did you miss the post where I think 420 is reasonable for Betts? I don't think I would have given Harper his contract, because I just don't think he's close enough to Betts.
  13. $1.2M constraint against the CBT for someone who may never make the show? IDK. I'd take that risk, but there were a lot of people on here quite concerned about the proximity to the CBT.
  14. So you don't care about the CBT then?
  15. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it. I'm just wondering how it would work out.
  16. @JoseCanseco I am ready to be baseball's next commissioner
  17. How would the communication work? Have the manager call all pitches through a headset? Give batters a headset too? What about fielders? I'm ok with it if that's the direction they go in.
  18. Then why isn't Roenicke being suspended? Doesn't seem more severe to me.
  19. Get rid of the video rooms and ipads.
  20. I wouldn't pay Harper for that, but it seems reasonable considering all of the money in baseball right now (tv contracts, team valuations, etc.). I do think there is a bubble coming at some point.
  21. As a fan of the Patriots, I never want to hear about cheating allegations again. It's very tiresome.
  22. Betts was being reasonable. And if you wanted others to stop talking about Betts, the worst way to do it is for yourselves to constantly talk about Betts and assume what other posters are going to say on some theoretical gamethread months from now.
  23. I don't think I realized they just sent over $$$. Is it a lump sum or do they pay it over time?
  24. I was going to say that maybe he isn't used to pitching in cold weather, but he's Canadian.
