    The GM is on the hot seat. He has a limited budget and needs to get the owners to believe in him. If he doesn't get Betts, he's probably fired as the Padres will be a for sure also ran team.

    I think some posters would say 350/10 is too much, but that they should still pay it just to keep him around.

    Benny has never played that side of the field before. I'd just leave him in LF. Myers would be underwhelming, but I'm not sure Benny would be any better.

    But there are comparable guys still sitting unsigned in FA. It's clear to me that this seems to be an overpay.

    @redsoxstats If Price is traded the Sox will obviously need to spend some money coming up, but I'd say the top priority would the window you just created to sign a Devers extension that gets his 2020 minimum salary included to lower his AAV long term.

    They are only really making that trade to get rid of Myers' salary. Getting Betts for a year just would help ticket sales.

    @redsoxstats The Sox with a big showing on this list, four names. Pitchers Chih-Jung Liu and Luis Perales are ranked right next to each other and Perales is getting monster reviews after his stuff exploded since agreeing with Boston.

    That seems to be the best they can do with their budget considering that MLB attendance has dropped 4 consecutive years and the Padres don't have a record breaking tv deal.

    Should have non-tendered him, but re-signed him in FA for about 2/10M.

    Could eat some of the contract and move him to PITT? Agree with the tender issue. It's why I made that post way back when. Don't tender a guy to overpay him when you're trying to cut salary.
