  1. I just traded Chavis/Dalbec/Barnes for Gallo. Now we don't have to talk about any of them anymore.
  2. What would Middlebrooks' trade value have been in November 2012? Lower or higher than when he was traded during 2014?
  3. Nobody is saying he's as good as Gallo. Just saying he's a similar archetype. Jeez.....
  4. I just looked there and am surprised at how much trade value they allot to Chavis and Dalbec. Seems high to me. I mean, if the Rays wanted Chavis for Yarbrough, you make that trade right? If the Tigers wanted Chavis for Turnbull, you'd be dumb to turn it down, right?
  5. If you ignore Chavis' injury concerns (he's never played a full season professionally), I'd agree that the trade value would probably be a toss up between the two.
  6. I think Chavis has substantial injury concerns which really hurts his trade value. On the open market, I'd guess that teams would prefer Dalbec.
  7. I think he has solid upside and fits a need on this team. I think the pitcher you'd get in return would not all that good. I like the lottery ticket aspect of Dalbec.
  8. @JonHeyman Hear Guardians starter Mike Clevinger sat through a team meeting yesterday and defended Zach Plesac knowing he’d been out with Plesac, then flew back with the team. Now, the Guardians discover Clevinger was out with Plesac and so they have appropriately quarantined Clevinger. Carlos Carrasco was diagnosed with leukemia 14 months ago. Obviously, Clevinger knows that. He still got on the plane after violating COVID protocols. (Not to mention Tito's health concerns.) MLB players are just so dumb.
  9. I didn't say he definitely will be Gallo, just that he has that profile. I think he'd be a better platoon split at 1b than Chavis. I'm not sure the arm he'd bring back would be anything to write home about.
  10. A half game ahead of the Angels. The third worst record in all of MLB. If you want one of the two Vandy pitchers, you might want the Angels to go on a winning streak.
  11. I think that wins and losses don't matter to Bloom this year. If he thought it would best for Jarren's development to be up in BOS, he'd be there.
  12. It's at least the worst rotation I've ever seen in my lifetime.
  13. Bell, I want you to draw me like one of your French-Canadian boys.
  14. To me, it seems more important to just close up shop and try not to get anyone important injured.
  15. Seems to be the plan from what I've seen.
  16. I think that's rushing him a little too quickly since he only hit .250 at AA last year.
  17. I've seen a lot of people complaining about how Roenicke managed the staff last night. I think he's just between a rock and a hard place. He only has a few decent pitchers and he needs to see if any of the AAAA can get through a tough outing and be viable going forward. I think we're just seeing that the throw spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks can be pretty ugly at times. My guess is that the bullpen looks nothing like this next year.
  18. Well, looks like Brian Johnson will not be starting for the Red Sox. @ChrisCotillo Source: Brian Johnson is not opting out of the 2020 season but it appears his time with the Red Sox is over. Official transaction still TBD -- but doesn't appear there's a future for him in Boston. @SmittyOnMLB reported earlier he had left Pawtucket and flown home to FL.
  19. I don't believe Peraza will get better.
  20. @jcmccaffrey Red Sox gave Perez an extra day rest and he will start Tuesday against the Rays. Godley has the Wednesday start. Brasier is listed as the opener for today's game. Roenicke said Eovaldi will get an extra day this turn through the rotation as well.
  21. Sox starters for this 4 game series are: TBD (Covey?) Perez TBD (Godley on short rest?) TBD (Hart? Houck? Kickham? Bullpen?)
  22. How will he get more reps in BOS? He's not playing every day and is being lifted for pinch hitters a lot. Down in PAW, he could hit as much as he wants (could literally be Bugs Bunny and hit 1 - 9) and can at least try to get some sort of groove back.
  23. Option him to the player pool. He can get extra reps in Pawtucket. He's not helping himself at all right now. I wonder if it's also much harder to work with a hitting coach due to COVID restrictions.
  24. According to C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic, the Reds have submitted a plan to the state of Ohio and MLB to have "a percentage" of fans return to Great American Ballpark this season. Rosecrans reports an email sent to seasonal employees on Sunday night indicates the plan has already been approved by the city of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. He adds a source told him fans likely wouldn't be able to return until September at the earliest or the playoffs should the Reds advance.
