  1. @PeteAbe #RedSox claimed catcher Deivy Grullon off waivers from the Phillies and optioned him to Pawtucket.
  2. I would.
  3. @redsoxstats Phillips Valdez's changeup has been one of the most devastating 2-strike pitches in baseball this year. Based on xwOBA only Gallen's CU, Karinchak's FB, and Bieber's CU have been slightly more dominant. 1 for 25, 17 strikeout, 4 weak groundouts, 2 flyouts, pop out, and a single.
  4. For reference https://nypost.com/2020/09/03/wife-of-struggling-red-sox-pitcher-robert-stock-jokes-about-divorce/?utm_source=twitter_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site%20buttons&utm_campaign=site%20buttons
  5. I have to say, at least Chaim did give us the lovely twitter phenom Robert Stock. If you don't know, a twitter user said that Stock looked like a twice divorced dad. Stock's wife commented that if he keeps walking the first batter, she may consider it. LOL Now everyone loves them.
  6. Only have 3 games left against teams below .500. This could get ugly.
  7. And BTV wouldn't approve the deal in the first place since it is a flawed system.
  8. Considering service time, it would have been his fifth season I believe.
  9. His massive salary was cut in half. Price at half his contract has a ton of value.
  10. Well, people are idiots and the baseballtradevalues site is not infallible.
  11. Also, Tolan would probably have been fairly cheap: Tolan missed the 1971 season after rupturing his Achilles tendon playing basketball, which violated a specific clause in his contract barring him from that activity.
  12. Are Posey/Mauer still arb eligible as Bench would have been?
  13. I can't imagine one year of Betts for Wong/Verdugo/Downs would have been accepted on baseball trade values.
  14. I'm arguing the exact opposite, so why not include Price?
  15. In today's game, Tolan and Bench would be cheap. The Reds would probably have to pick 2 out of 3 for Rose/Morgan/Perez. Guys like Concepcion and Foster were still cheap and a year away from breaking out. They would have definitely saved money on that pitching staff.
  16. Can't say I agree with that premise, especially when the Sox are paying a lot of his salary going forward. The addition of Price just allowed the Sox to get some better prospects in return for only one year of Betts.
  17. Yup. And if you tell me that if having the top fWAR season gives you a 40% chance to be in the postseason, well teams only have a 27% chance to get in the postseason anyway. Seems that you are more likely to get into the postseason with the top fWAR guy than if you don't have the top fWAR guy.
  18. I look forward to continuing to debate this move for the next 10 years at which point there will be only 6 people left on here.
  19. June 8, 1971: Drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 1st round (1st pick) of the 1971 amateur draft, but did not sign. Wowzers...
  20. Bulk innings guy?
  21. Batting 1 for 18... Actually, Valdez, Perez and Plawecki have been fine too.
