  1. Anderson was on track to the bigs through his second season in 2008, but after 2009 it was a freefall. He probably shouldn't have even appeared for the Sox in 2010. If 2009 continued to show improvement, he could have debuted then (it took an extra year because of his decreased production). That would be equivalent to 2021 for a Casas timeline, which makes sense to me. I bet he starts 2021 in AA and he could get promoted quickly if he hits like Beni or Devers did in AA.
  2. @PeteAbe #RedSox returned catcher Deivy Grullón to the taxi squad after he was the extra player in Tuesday’s doubleheader. Backup catcher Kevin Plawecki, who didn’t play Tuesday because of a bruised hand, is expected to be available on Thursday.
  3. Do any of the current guys have a shot at reversing the bad luck? Mata seems like he could be pretty good. Probably the best bet to stick in the rotation. Groome is what he is, but a LHP that has his stuff can stick around for a while as long as he's durable. (Wade Miley comp is similar to Buchholz's career fWAR) Song could be the best pitcher in the system, but we don't know what he'll look like after his service time. Ward has good numbers in the minors, but will he get lit up once he advances? Potential bullpen arm based on his stuff.
  4. Which Willie? Calhoun, McGee, Harris, Wilson?
  5. Right now, he's at least an upgrade over Chavis who doesn't walk and is worse in the field.
  6. He's better than Walden. He's better than Leyer. He's better than Springs. He's better than Kickham. He's better than Triggs.
  7. Sox should tank against the O's and sweep the Yanks.
  8. If you want to start a thread on the announcers, go for it. We haven't done one of those in a while.
  9. Maybe I've just been unlucky and have seen most of his starts in OF. I was surprised that the number of games wasn't higher.
  10. Starting pitching has been this team's bugaboo for a long time. Since the late 80's anyway.
  11. That 3.54 FIP would look good in this pen right now.
  12. It was Chavis' first professional game in the OF. He has practiced there from time to time, but never made an appearance.
  13. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/tzu-wei-lin/14678/stats?position=2B/SS#fielding Last year in AAA, Lin was basically 50% OF, 50% IF.
  14. Lin has played OF for the Sox previously. It's not even his first OF appearance this year.
  15. IDK, if you have a guy as soft as tissue paper, it doesn't make sense to bring him back from injury this year. Maybe you only have him pitch 2-3 innings per appearance?
  16. Lester? edit: Mike Port was GM, David Chadd was Director of Scouting Theo was in the org, but unsure of how much he was doing during 2002.
  17. The only deal I'd do over is the Kinsler one.
  18. I don't think the coaching was lacking. There's nothing about his first few days that weren't evident in the minors. He has easy power. He strikes out a lot. That hasn't changed.
  19. Eck groaned like that was gone.
  20. Pull Hembree and put Workman in.
  21. Well, Dalbec is way better than Chavis.
  22. Save it for 2021
