  1. He gets less money up front. He'll get some of it paid after he retires. Clearly, he's not living paycheck to paycheck so I don't know if it really matters all that much if a portion is deferred. I believe the Sox were still paying Manny deferred money in 2020.
  2. It hits a lot of the same notes.
  3. He's a Yankees fan. Have I told you the tale of Jesus Montero?
  4. One of my friends is a Sox/Mariners fan. He popped a beach ball in the CF bleachers at Fenway once. The season ticket holders around us cheered him. Everyone else booed him. He spent years being upset about losing that first Seahawks Super Bowl due to a holding call or something. Now he just spends his weekends burning his bitterness off by sleeping in the woods.
  5. Stop blaming the pandemic on Mookie not being in Boston. The second the Sox traded him, he was NEVER coming back.
  6. Why do you need to hurt me like this?
  7. This does not mean they give him away for free as some have suggested on here.
  8. Sox offer could have included deferred money as well.
  9. That's what the beat guys have been saying all along. If we get to ST and the Sox have only signed Renfroe and Andriese, then get worried.
  10. I think this team's core is good enough to contend for a WC spot while going cheap this offseason.
  11. I don't think he's expecting to make a big postseason run this year. I think he expects the team to win 86ish games. He's going to sign 1-2 SP FAs. He's going to fill out the bullpen better. Just don't expect the standings to look like 2016-2018.
  12. How often was he in public aside from sightings at games on NESN?
  13. Ah yes, but you see, their projected WAR is the highest in the AL. He doesn't really have to be worried!
  14. 1/2 way through September
  15. Most likely, the Rays don't see Kiermaier as a negative value guy and aren't going to dump him for a C level minor leaguer.
  16. Not going to happen.
  17. s***, sign him for 3. That's a lot moolah though.
  18. They won't sign Bradley or Hand. Maybe they sign a 2b. If they do, it's someone who can also play OF (Profar/Gordon).
  19. Well, it's just straight taken from Latin so there probably is a proper way to say it. I wasn't one of those aholes that took Latin in high school so I can't really comment.
  20. That sanction is a large part of why the farm system is abysmal right now.
  21. Finding Snell turns that draft from a dog to "ok"
  22. Need to add the /s or
  23. KEVIN KIERMAIER OF, TAMPA BAY RAYS According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the chances of a Kevin Kiermaier trade "probably aren't great." Bob Nightengale of MLB Network reported Monday that Kiermaier was "next on the trade block" for the Rays after they shipped former AL Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell to the Padres, but Heyman notes that Tampa Bay loves the rangy center fielder "for the clubhouse and defense" even though he has underwhelmed offensively since signing a five-year, $53 million extension with the team in March 2017. We'll see.
  24. Ben got us sanctioned that way too.
