  1. @lindseyadler Adam Ottavino is in the last year of a three-year, $27m contract. Salary for 2021 is technically $8m, but $9m counts against the luxury tax by AAV. Yankees needed an additional 40-man spot and this gives them some more cushion if they want to stay under CBT threshold.
  2. @lindseyadler Source: The Yankees have traded Adam Ottavino to the Red Sox.
  3. Sox should NEVER be concerned about service time. They have enough $$$ to retain anyone if they want to (including Mookie).
  4. Beni isn't being traded. It only made sense if they were signing a big bat for LF. They don't have enough room to sign Ozuna. They need a closer and a CFer still.
  5. Ah, so that's why he has a negative dWAR.
  6. Since this is the first official Bloom offseason, I have no idea what to really expect.
  7. Stop teasing us with your demise.
  8. Feldman? Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time.
  9. That Profar contract was a warning sign about Kiké’s deal.
  10. Can probably go back under when JD is off books.
  11. Sign Workman as a closer and add another arm?
  12. Colome/Almora/Miller Less than 13M? Should be.
  13. DHern is closer material. Not this year though.
  14. Good question.
  15. If he tops 6M, it’s good for the Sox as it means Beni played well. It doesn’t make any sense to move him.
  16. Speier: Some have asked why Richards (1/$10M) and not Kluber (1/$11M). As I wrote below, Sox were interested in something other than a clean one-year deal with Kluber. Almost every free agent deal Bloom has reached has included additional year(s) of control That structure reflects what the Sox have acknowledged - they’re thinking of impact beyond the immediate season at hand. That control has been either option years, additional arb-eligible years, or with Hernández, a second year. (Exceptions - Pillar and McHugh - signed during spring training last year, when there were needs and almost no unsigned alternatives.) Additionally, Kluber had great reason to prefer the Yankees on a straight one-year deal for comparable dollars, given the chance to work with Eric Cressey in NY, and the greater chance of competing for a title.
  17. Renfroe only makes sense when platooning with Beni. Just sign a cheap CFer and 2 relievers.
  18. Speier: The Richards option for 2022 is for $10M. It includes escalators that would increase both the option salary and the cost of the buyout.
  19. Nice to have option year tho.
  20. 30M - 7 Kiké - 10 Richards = 6M reliever + 3M reliever + 4M CF/2B
  21. Red Sox 2021: the walking dead
  22. It is an overpay. He has a better chance of playing well than Brock. We’ll see how it goes.
