    First the robot umps came for the k zone and I did not speak out because that s*** sucks. Then they came for all calls on the field and I did not speak out because fine, ok. Then they came for the players and coaches and I did not speak out because this game was dying anyway. Then they came for the fans and there was no one left to speak for us.

    Maybe 70/30, but only because of the question marks in the rotation. If I knew ERod would be healthy, I'd mark them in as a WC team.

    The difference with JBJ is that he had multiple good samples. With Chavis, it looks like the book got out on him and he never adjusted. Until he adjusts, he'll be the 671 guy most likely.

    If you get good health from Odorizzi/Kluber/Sale/Erod? 60/40 I think this team will look more like a 25/75 chance of making the playoffs. The offense will carry this team. If the bullpen can be average and the starting pitching isn't a disaster, they'll be in contention in mid September. If the season were starting tomorrow it would be a 5/95 chance at making the playoffs.

    Chavis OPS'd 1237 over his first 58 PAs. He's only hit 671 since then. His offense is not worth the poor glovework. Moving him around the field as a super UTIL guy won't fix that issue.

    I'd only take Arroyo because Chavis' defense is so shaky. The offense is solid with or without Chavis. They just need to get the best defensive 2B they can find (unless they are going to surprise with Semien).

    That's what happens when you have a garbage pen and return on 1 out of 5 starting pitchers from the prior year (Porcello and Price went bye bye, Sale and ERod were on IL). The offense is NOT the problem.

    I disagree on Chavis vs Arroyo. Chavis is a negative fWAR guy (bad glove and a huge hole in his swing). Arroyo is probably a 0.5 - 1.0 fWAR guy (adequate replacement).

    Barnes provided about the same value as Kimbrel did in 2018 and most people on here think he's dog s***. Dalbec provided almost the same value as Moreland in just over one month in 2020. Mookie's 10.4 fWAR is really the big difference maker.

    I wouldn't bat Beni and Verdugo back to back because of LRLRL, but also Beni has been dreadful at the top of the lineup. Verdugo was good there so I'd keep him #1. I also don't see Chavis as the starting 2b. He's more likely to start in AAA.

    Price fWAR 2018: 2.4 Moreland fWAR 2018: 0.7 Kimbrel fWAR 2018: 1.3 Betts is irreplaceable, but those other guys could be replaced without much effort at all.

    @redsoxstats So far the Red Sox have been linked to 11 players for the international signing period that finally opens tomorrow. These three (Bleis CF, Lira C, Ravelo SS) seem to be the head of the class according to BA.

    I agree. If they are in the hunt in September, but Sale is still not quite there, Sale must still be held back.
