    He's not ready. I think the vast majority of us believe he needs to prove it first. As with Cordero, you like the tools and can dream that he puts it all together.

    His swing is apparently way different than 2019. There has been a ton of adjustments to his swing since he was drafted. I also believe he started to get better at the end of 2019 in AA.

    Cordero was not "physically" playing full seasons as he was on the DL/IL. I think Ortiz was far closer to being considered to have played a full season. With Cordero, he's a big unknown. He's a lottery ticket that probably won't work out, but something you'll dream on.

    So you don't watch him play other teams and can say that he hits a buck and a quarter vs everyone else? Historically, he beats up on the Jays far more than he does on the Sox.

    Biggest difference with Ortiz was that he was at least physically playing full seasons (even if just combined with MiLB).

    120 OPS+ in 2002 (20 HR, 75 RBI). Granted, he only went under 120 once while with the Sox (2009).

    Yes, have Duran play his way onto the roster first. I just means there is not impediment to getting to BOS if he's playing well.

    What I saw was a report that Cordero's route running was "interesting." I've never seen anyone be listed as both outstanding and highly questionable in various reports. Hard to really make too much of it until we actually see it. For me, the amount of smoke stating that his defense may be an issue seems hard to ignore. Maybe his instincts are poor but his speed makes up for it? According to Fangraphs, he has a below average arm, negative DRS and negative UZR/150.

    Mike Ilitch is worth over $6B. They went from 4th in payroll in 2015-2017 to 19th in 2018, 20th in 2019 and 22nd in 2020. If they kept Max and Verlander, they would have been 9th in payroll in 2019.

    Yes, but if they are going to through Cordero out there, it may not be much of a downgrade by using Duran instead.

    @redsoxstats Over the last three years position players that batted 7th, 8th, and 9th in MLB have combined to hit .236/.304/.385. 2018 Sox hit .231/.292/.367. Almost impossible to manufacture runs. I'm pretty intrigued with the Sox just trying to hit jacks in that part of the order now. Will strengthening the bottom of the order be a boon for the Sox or just lipstick on a pig?

    And if that's the case, they just piecemeal 2b together with Arroyo/Marwin/Chavis/et al and see who wins the job.

    Also, all the Tigers had to do was keep Scherzer and Verlander and they would have been fine. Never should have let them walk out the door.

    Stars aligning would actually include Casas, Duran and Downs being ready for the bigs sooner than later. 1b: Casas 2b: Downs SS: Xander 3b: Devers RF: Verdugo CF: Duran LF: Renfroe/Cordero DH: Dalbec That could be a fun lineup if the young guys are ready.

Kevin Pillar 9. Byron Buxton 10 Ender Inciarte Hamilton can't hit at all. Dyson is too long in the tooth. JBJ is too expensive. Pillar is the only guy who makes sense.

    The problem wasn't 2018. The problem was 2019. That's why we're here.
