  1. Saying "we'll give you 300M" and then ending after the other side counters IS NOT A NEGOTIATION.
  2. The infrastructure is different. There is little reason for them to plan for record breaking temperatures. However, I've read that the TX energy grid is very outdated. Maybe they can get around to fixing that at some point.
  3. Astros currently have Myles Straw as projected to play CF. If he's the 2019 version, you go with him over JBJ. If he's the 2020 version, you go with JBJ. They have a very clear need at CF though as there is nobody behind Straw that can field the position. As they are more likely to compete, they should be the ones to sign JBJ. JBJ to the Stros? Dyson to the Sox?
  4. I don't know what to think of the Phillies. They are projecting to have CJ Chatham on the opening day roster. They have Jankowski as a NRI and Herrera in AAA eating $10M. Two 1st round picks Mickey Moniak 2016 and Cornelius Randolph 2015 ard also sitting in AAA. I could see them not grabbing JBJ and it just being between the Astros and the Sox.
  5. The Sox need to sign JBJ to a 1 year deal and trade him at the deadline in order to fulfill the prophecy.
  6. I think it's more likely that he goes to the Astros too.
  7. Maybe someone will give him 3 years? It's hard to really say at this point. I think he'd be good for another team with more "payroll flexibility" but it's interesting that he hasn't signed yet.
  8. They should TJ his other arm so that he can be the next Greg Harris.
  9. I love that we can continue to pigeonhole Papi into this trade.
  10. Or or just force every guy in A ball to get TJ. Maybe they'll all see a post-TJ uptick in velo!!!!!!!!
  11. Or just bring them in today since they are going to get TJ in the future and you can get the surgery done now rather than waiting.
  12. Why ever take a PTBNL then? May as well just postpone every trade because of the off chance a guy gets injured.
  13. JBJ wants 4/40. Sox might do 2/15?
  14. If they don't extend Sale or re-sign Eovaldi, they could have re-signed Mookie. They just didn't have the willingness to put money aside for him.
  15. Renfroe/Francy - LF JBJ - CF Verdugo - RF Devers - 3B Xander - SS Kiké - 2B Dalbec - 1B Vaz - C It's a good lineup. Well, at least it's an interesting lineup. I just don't know if they'll do it.
  16. I just prefer Verdugo in RF. He handled it there in 2020.
  17. I think they'll scout the few guys they are looking into and make a quicker decision because they'd rather have them in house.
  18. They reset last year. Why is there no flexibility this year?
  19. To me, they should have spent no matter what in regards to keeping Mookie. That means resetting in 2022/23, huge lux tax payments prior to resetting, and possibly losing Xander and Devers. Though moving those two could bring back the prospects to restock the farm.
  20. What's the point in ever being fully transparent?
  21. The way you avoid that is to sign him to a very large contract. They didn't want to. I don't blame Bloom for Mookie no longer being here. That was an ownership decision.
  22. It just reveals how rough last season's team was in retrospect.
  23. I bet their record will be closer to 2019 than 2015.
  24. Maybe? He's made it this far.
  25. Maybe a bullpen arm? (Workman?) Maybe a CFer or at least someone who can spell a guy there from time to time? (Pillar?) Could get both of those and stay under the lux tax.
