  1. How does that help them compete with the Yankees who have 3 top 30 starters?
  2. Whitlock was really great. Many people were hopeful it would be Slaten, but Whitlock really stepped up last season.
  3. He is a beat guy. Why wouldn't he talk to some shmoe in the FO?
  4. Top 30 in some categories. Is that the goal now? 😬
  5. Going through the shop, there's too many alternate designs already. Like c'mon. You can't even get a regular fitted Yak logo hat that isn't courduroy.
  6. Games played by year (notes from SoxProspects): 22 - 91 (Missed most of a period of about a month in April/May 2022 due to a wrist sprain.) 23 - 78 (Suffered a shoulder injury on a slide on May 7, 2023, and while he only missed a week, the injury bothered him until he was placed on the injured list in early August, missing the rest of the season.) 24 - 77 (After a strong start to the season, missed a few games near the end of July and had a short IL stint with what was originally understood to be a hip injury. He was promoted to Worcester with Anthony and Teel on August 13, but did not play again the rest of the season, as the injury was eventually diagnosed as a lumbar strain.) 25 - 87 (Underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right wrist in August 2025, ending his season.)
  7. I guess if we're going down that much of a doomer route, might as well not even bother talking about any top tier pitching then. Sox will just be a middle of the road team at best. Maybe they'll get in the playoffs every few years, but no chance at a WS. Root for cost savings and laundry. It's all we have left I guess. 🫡
  8. Preemptively cutting your scouting program in '25 to save costs in '27 in case of a short term work stoppage is a lot of hoop jumping to me.
  9. Because another team might trade for Skubal and extend him before then.
  10. If they trade for Skubal, they are all in on extending him at a massive contract.
  11. https://soxprospects.com/payroll.htm
  12. Is that why the Sox are taking a chainsaw to their scouting department budget?
  13. Maybe over a longer contract he adjusts his approach? It's still a better fit than a pull heavy LHB.
  14. Per SP, Sox are projected at 24M under right now. They'll be over.
  15. DD said he's not trading Painter, but I'm fine with these moves.
  16. Gallen has a QO attached and less than 4 fWAR the past two seasons combined. Pass.
  17. Murakami is going to be a high ceiling/low floor guy with a big contract and bad defense. I'd go with Okamoto who would have much better defense, which makes me question the overall WAR calc.
  18. I’ll probably get a Yak hat.
  19. Salem changed their name to the RidgeYaks.
  20. Okamoto isn't very similar to Masa. He has a lot more power and is a very good fielder. If they traded for Lodolo? I'd still go for Woodruff because he's a big value play to me a 22 AAV. Maybe pass on Hoskins and bring back Matz? C Narvaez/Wong 1B Okamoto 2B Romy/Hamilton SS Story 3B Mayer/Sogard OF Abreu/Rafaela/Anthony/Refsnyder/Masa Crochet/Woodruff/Lodolo/Bello/Sandoval Chapman/Whitlock/Slaten/Matz/Weissert/Bernardino/Criswell/Hicks I'd still rather be able to spend more than $45M.
  21. That Murakami contract is a very expensive lottery ticket. I don't want any part of it. The variance on what he could be isn't worth it to me since JH isn't free spending anymore.
  22. I'm not saying it's "the best approach" but it's something that he's particularly struggled with. The idea that he knows the k zone better than the umps is just silly to me. Don't let the umps put you on the bench.
  23. His best season was when he had his best approach while having 2 strikes on him. Are you misreading what I'm trying to say? His lowest strike out looking percentage was 27% and occurred in '23 when he was most successful.
  24. I just think Woodruff provides so much more value at only 6M more AAV. If he pitches like he did in '25, he's a #2. Kelly is not that.
