  1. I'd keep Tolle and Early at the expense of the other pitchers in the org too. Third in line to me is Fajardo. I think I'd want to have Witherspoon/Phillips/Eyanson in the system for a year before I moved them as well.
  2. He doesn't rely on speed and agility, but he relies on his lower half to generate a lot of power to drive the ball. An average joe recovering from an injury is not the same as a professional athlete recovering from an injury. When I looked into it during the season, this injury wrecked the vast majority of MLB careers of the people who got it.
  3. If moved to 3b, Story has better arm strength than Bregman FWIW. He's comparable to Suarez and is well outside the top 30.
  4. He'd be a lot better at 2b.
  5. Even with his "weaker arm" he had plus fielding at 3b. Story wasn't plus at SS due to his drop in range.
  6. Worst major trade: Drew Pomeranz Joe Kelly (aka the Allen Craig deal) Worst trades involving pitching leaving: Lester Arroyo Masterson Sale Lackey
  7. I think Early peaks as a decent 3rd starter unless his velo really picks up. I don't think his 1.86 BB/9 will hold much longer. His whiff and chase skyrocketed in BOS from WOO. I'd expect regression in 2026. I've liked him for a long time, but people need to have realistic expectations. Because of Tolle's velo, he's a more valuable commodity due to the higher upside. He has a lower floor though with reliever risk.
  8. That's not what the rumor mill says. Teams are calling for Rafaela, then Duran and not really for Abreu.
  9. If they get a depth piece, it's on a cheap deal. They already have Sandoval, Bello, Tolle, Early, Dobbins, Fitts, Crawford, Criswell and Harrison behind Crochet. If they add a #2, I'm not sure they need to add a depth piece with a price tag higher than 10M AAV.
  10. For me, it's nice to know where the pitchers are at because it wasn't aware. If they can have a normal offseason, that's great. They can't expect Casas to factor in at 1b this year. Maybe he can DH at some point, but definitely not Opening Day. Sox should build their roster without Casas in mind. If he comes back healthy, it's a good problem to have if you have an extra player.
  11. The contract is paying him to be one of the 40 greatest pitchers of all time. It's worth it if he pitches like Kevin Brown did in his 30's.
  12. You are wrong. It's the leg injury that is bothering me, not the rib.
  13. The question about Casas is less about him as a hitter and more about his current injury. I can even ignore his previous injury concerns. I just think this particular injury is a substantial setback for his career. I hope to be wrong. No matter what, he has options and can start the year as the DH in AAA. He can work his way back to DH in BOS if they sign a RHB everyday 1B. At that point, you make a decision on Masa and either find a trade and eat salary or DFA if Casas is 100% healthy.
  14. Being "impressive" and "meh" are two completely different things. He has been able to stay on the field for the past 4 seasons. Most players are unable to do that. To me, staying healthy is a skillset. Unfortunately, Arraez is a healthy contact hitter with no power, speed or defense. Not a whole lot going on. Doesn't seem like a fit for the Sox at all.
  15. About 10 of those guys could make sense as a signing. Bregman and Refsnyder are clearly the two most likely to re-sign. Funniest re-sign would be Pham. I know Pomeranz was serviceable last season and is younger than we think, but don't bring that dud back.
  16. Other injury updates: Anthony is expected to have an unrestricted, healthy offseason. “Should start swinging in a couple of weeks, which is just normal for his offseason,” Breslow said at the GM Meetings here at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas “Because once we didn’t have games to play, the need to accelerate the timeline obviously didn’t exist,” Breslow said. “And so we were able to take a little bit more conservative route just to make sure that everything was fully healed. But the most important thing right now, obviously, is that he is fully healthy and is having an unrestricted offseason.” Infielder Marcelo Mayer, who underwent wrist surgery in August, might have been able to return if the Red Sox had made it deeper into the postseason. “Marcelo’s been making great progress to the point that he was pushing to get back in time if we would have continued deeper into the postseason,” Breslow said. “But he’s having a good offseason out on the West Coast, getting bigger and stronger.” Righty Richard Fitts, who missed the final 30 games of the season with right arm neuritis, “is throwing and is going into the offseason with no limitations,” Breslow said. Righty Hunter Dobbins, who underwent surgery in August to repair a torn ACL, has begun a full throwing program.
  17. First baseman Triston Casas, who suffered a season-ending patellar tendon injury May 2 that required surgery, is rehabbing in Fort Myers. It still is to be determined whether he’ll be ready for the start of spring training. “I’m always reluctant to put timelines on things that are months away because I feel like you either meet them and everything is OK or you don’t sometimes for no reason other than things pop up and there’s questions about what the setback was,” Breslow said. “I think Triston is anticipating being ready for spring training. Exactly what that looks like, we’ll find out. But he’s moving around really well and he’s committed to living in Fort Myers for the offseason to make sure that he gets the treatment and support that he needs.”
  18. Could almost fill a whole 40 man roster with former Sox guys that are available via FA: Bregman Schwarber Littell May Giolito Perez Moncada Jansen Vazquez Matz Buehler Martin Refsnyder Pomeranz Wilson Pham Urias Newcomb Miley Iglesias Keller Espinal Jansen Garcia Verdugo Hernandez Brasier Beeks Hendriks Kopech Smith Turner Alfaro Margot Sims Kimbrel
  19. On a different DH? 🤮
  20. I LITTERALLY didn't say that. 🤬
  21. Only 66 players appeared in 150+ games last season. Arraez is 27th in games played over the previous 4 seasons (more than any current Red Sox).
