  1. That's just a bit. Or not.
  2. @JonHeyman Red Sox are among many teams showing interest in Javy Baez, who enhanced his market by showing unusual plate discipline and finishing big with the Mets.
  3. If that's the definition, the only "big" deal they may sign this offseason would be an extension for Raffy or Xander.
  4. So was Lester, but people wanted him to retire as a Red Sox.
  5. Sox lucked into finding a new ownership group that wanted to make a big star studded splash. Beckett was still a good commodity at that time. Crawford was damaged goods, but there was hope that a change of scenery would fix his lagging production.
  6. The only thing with that move is lots of Sox fans expected AGon to start launching more homeruns since he was leaving Petco for the friendly confines of Fenway. On the field, he was good enough. He just wasn't a good fit off the field for this market.
  7. I think the blueprint would be more towards total budget rather than offseason spend.
  8. My only gripe is that if I'm trading Duran, it needs to be for a guy with at least 2 years of control.
  9. I think he shouldn't build the 2022 roster to spite the 2024 roster.
  10. At least not for Iglesias.
  11. Why trade Bogey and downgrade to Baez? Also, 5 years is kinda long when we may be talking about Mayer in 3.
  12. Yes, just get a cheap full time option for 2b.
  13. Rodon is an interesting case. He put it all together last season and became dominant (more heat, more k's, less bb's). However, he just can't stay on the field. Steamer is projecting 163 innings in 2022, but the most innings he's ever thrown is 165. I can't see a team giving him more than 2 years, just because you can't count on him to be in your lineup.
  14. We'll see a bigger change after 2022 when Vaz and Plawecki are both FAs.
  15. If I was GM, I'd keep Plawecki for another year. He's cheap enough that you can move on from him during the year if Wong/Hernandez shows they're ready.
  16. He's well rested.
  17. @kaitlyncmcgrath Per a source, confirming what’s been reported elsewhere. #BlueJays agree to an extension with José Berríos, pending a physical, valued at $131 million over seven years.
  18. @jonmorosi Noah Syndergaard is making progress on a deal with the #Angels, source says. @MLBNetwork @MLB Get that monorail ready!
  19. Good thing I didn't go with the compound dumbfounded then!
  20. I think the blueprint is: 1. grow the farm system for sustainability 2. short term contracts for FA MLB talent
  21. It depends on how well they can spend that savings. Clubs like Tampa are able to do a lot with just a little. Sox should have the flexibility to go over for special players but be mindful of overspending for the sake of overspending.
  22. Including playoffs and spring training?
  23. Well, for the Red Sox it appears to be a cold stove.
  24. The only good thing about putting Matz in the rotation would be the cost savings. He's just not very reliable though and has a very low ceiling. His numbers were similar to ERod last year, but he's just not a guy you can pencil in every 5th day.
