  1. I guess the deadline was NOT 9AM. We would have seen transactions by now. I believe the deadline is probably 5PM.
  2. No chance a team lets a guy pass through waivers and then picks them up in Rule V. Makes no sense.
  3. It depends on the length of the Rodon deal. I'm a no on the others.
  4. Hard to say no to a guaranteed 200M. I think guys like him are just built a little different. At some point, it's not about the $$$, it's about his standing among other players. The goal is to have a certain level of contract, not to have lifetime savings.
  5. Yes, Tony Clark had his lunch handed to him last time around. He should have been fired.
  6. They won't be.
  7. He won't take it IMO.
  8. I think a fair case could be made for that. The ANALYTICS say as much.
  9. It will be backloaded and they will deal him when he's 25.
  10. If Bello wasn't protected, he'd be the #1 pick of the draft.
  11. The Sox have a long line of mediocre CFers. Damon and Ellsbury couldn't throw the ball. When I looked at JBJ, I saw a really good CF. Was he the best Sox CFer of my lifetime? Maybe, but he wasn't even the greatest CFer in his division while he was here (Kiermaier).
  12. Don't worry, in a couple of years I'll be close to that group. I guess only 40+ years doesn't quite count. Need to really put in the work!
  13. They could do better at literally every position. No Sox player is the single greatest player at their position.
  14. I looked and couldn't find it. Surprising that they'd put a 9AM Pacific deadline when they have a decent amount of West Coast teams.
  15. Noon eastern?
  16. I believe the deadline is tomorrow at 5pm Eastern.
  17. JBJ only had one season for BOS with a higher UZR than what Kiké did in 2021. There was only one season that JBJ had a higher fWAR than Kiké did in 2021. Maybe you need to ease off the brakes a little?
  18. In regards to Ward and the Rule 5 draft: FYI, Ward, if selected, would spend 2022 on the IL, and would need to spend 90 days on the selecting team's active roster in 2023. The 60 day IL stint in 2022 would burn an option year too.
  19. I guess. All I was saying is that it's hard to compare Downs' progress to guys like Raffy and Bogey. Is it more likely that Downs in 2022 has a 888 OPS like in 2019 in A ball or a 606 OPS like 2021 in AAA?
  20. @SPChrisHatfield Gettys has spent 8 years as an outfielder and is now transitioning to a completely different skillset, so his whole focus needs to be on learning that in the near term. If he is able to make it work and gets to the majors? Who knows, but then you've got the opposite issue.
  21. Yes, he was signed to a MiLB deal.
  22. Because "Downs could play in BOS in 2022 because Xander and Devers advanced quickly as 20 year olds."
  23. @ChrisCotillo Red Sox have re-signed some minor-league free agents. RHP Zack Kelly, RHP Caleb Simpson and RHP Michael Gettys back in the fold, I’m told. Gettys, a former OF and Padres 2nd round pick, will continue pitching after tossing 5 innings in rookie ball this year.
  24. Mad hits, you could say.
