  1. I meant "maybe they re-sign Taylor."
  2. They didn't want to be on the hook for 18M for one year I guess.
  3. My only guess is that they saw the opportunity cost of not being able to negotiate an extension in Sept/Oct was greater than the returns they were being offered. Maybe they really thought he'd sign an extension before FA hit? IDK. They did extend Cron prior to FA.
  4. If the Sox truly believed that they both could be effective long term starters, they both would be put into the rotation. I think one of the stays in the pen just because their peak value is not in the rotation.
  5. I'm guessing the Garrett Richards and Martin Perez money?
  6. Why did the Rockies hold onto Jon Gray at the deadline, but not give him a QO after? What a waste.
  7. Dodgers could get two picks, but will likely sign a QO guy. Maybe Taylor?
  8. No decision on Syndergaard yet?
  9. It wouldn't be a one for one trade. It could be something like Castillo and Moustakas (plus eating some salary) for Casas.
  10. I've seen the play was probably to replace ERod with Matz if ERod didn't sign. He should be much cheaper than the QO.
  11. I could see them trading anyone but Mayer right now and I could talk myself into liking it.
  12. @SoxProspects Pedro Castellanos went 3-for-4 with two doubles (4) in yesterday's 4-1 Cardenales de Lara loss. The 23-year-old slugger has been on a roll since the start of the Venezuelan Winter League slashing .288/.315/.558 with four home runs over 54 PA. This is a guy who showed lots of BP power, but never really found it in game. 15 HR in 321 games from 2016-2019. He had a career high 13 this year at Portland. The only problem is that he also had a career low in doubles. He's 6'3" and not athletic. Future 1B/DH who was pushed to the OF in 2021 because the doesn't have an organizational path forward at 1B. Current 49th ranked prospect who peaked at #16 prior to 2018 season.
  13. I don't see Verdugo as a cornerstone. He's much more of a complimentary player. He showed a big spark in 2020, but 2021 was underwhelming IMO.
  14. ERod's new contract is back loaded so that it's less likely he'll opt out.
  15. Stroman pitched pretty well in front of the Mets fans this year.
  16. Thoughts go out to Lugo's family and Theo today.
  17. A lot of things I've read point towards his comfort level with Miggy and that the two of them are really close.
  18. Maybe they just want to pay one guy a little more than ERod? I'd rather Stroman instead of ERod even if I'm paying more.
  19. Yes, my original assertion that it was pick 57 was wrong. It's the pick after Competitive Balance Round B, so pick 70.
  20. It's not that I "know" my stuff. I just pulled up the CBA and the MLB rule book to see what it said. A lot of the stuff I've seen written in articles is fairly vague and doesn't get into the nuts and bolts about why things are happening. This is because sports journalists are lazy.
  21. You're going to have to show your work here.
  22. Per the CBA: With exception of draft selections forfeited by the Club pursuant to Major League Rule 3©(4), all of a Club's draft selections will be counted in determining the Club's second highest selection... What is the exception??? Rule 3©(4): If a Club fails to sign a player selected before the conclusion of the tenth round...
