  1. Yes, he was signed to a MiLB deal.
  2. Because "Downs could play in BOS in 2022 because Xander and Devers advanced quickly as 20 year olds."
  3. @ChrisCotillo Red Sox have re-signed some minor-league free agents. RHP Zack Kelly, RHP Caleb Simpson and RHP Michael Gettys back in the fold, I’m told. Gettys, a former OF and Padres 2nd round pick, will continue pitching after tossing 5 innings in rookie ball this year.
  4. Mad hits, you could say.
  5. It's a possibility, but I think it's also an indicator that you can't compare his trajectory to Xander and Raffy. I think he stays in WOO all of 2022.
  6. He started off the AFL fairly hot. Has cooled a bit.
  7. I'd be into extending Kiké. He could be the starting CFer for the next 4-5 years.
  8. @masslivesports Report: Red Sox showing interest in free agent Chris Taylor, who was All-Star for Dodgers in 2021 Filled under bored reporters.
  9. I'm predicting 3 months of darkness. I believe the Rule 5 draft is suspended if there is a lockout. We'll see if a lockout happens on 12/1 or soon thereafter.
  10. That's the linkage to Baez and Semien IMO.
  11. Maybe? I haven't seen many reports about how his transition to pitching went.
  12. The 745 OPS is basically what he had through 6/30. He had a JBJ slump without the molten hot peak.
  13. He's going to be high A Ohtani this year.
  14. I never pointed that out. He sucked in July. He started off with a 730 OPS through June. He was terrible in July with 390 OPS that also carried through the most of August. It was a brutal two month stretch. He didn't really play well again until about 8/25.
  15. Yes, they just need a capable 2b who can actually stay healthy for a season. Arroyo just isn't that guy.
  16. Unfortunately.
  17. Taylor's UZR/150 was not good this year at any position except for corner OF. He's 31 already. I don't know how much meat is on the bone.
  18. Schwarber would be better as a DH. I like him, but I don't see the Sox re-signing him.
  19. He's a QO guy. They don't try to sign Taylor IMO.

  21. There were a whole shitload of guys that missed 2020. A lot of guys just kept rolling. Not sure why Downs would be given an exemption.
  22. He's not even in the org today. He's a MiLB free agent.
  23. 2021 was unique in that there were some really good Rule 5 pickups. Usually, the draft isn't all that important.
  24. Bogaerts and Devers were tearing through MiLB pitching. Downs had significant struggles in AAA last year. That's a big difference IMO.
  25. I think they'd hold onto Arauz until both guys are signed. I still don't see the Sox signing Baez though. His high k rate is scary for this lineup.
