  1. @SPChrisHatfield Another solid start from Kutter Crawford last night in the DR. 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R (0 ER), 2 BB, 5 K. Included getting out of a bases loaded jam with Ks of Emilio Bonifacio and Chris Owings. Now at 21.1 IP, 0.42 ERA, 23 K, 8 BB for the winter.
  2. Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association have agreed to move this year’s deadline for teams to tender contracts to arbitration-eligible players up from December 2 to November 30 at 8:00 pm EST. Potential non-tender candidates for the Sox: Renfroe, Plawecki, Schreiber, Valdez, Arroyo
  3. ERod 5/77 Matz 4/144 Graveman 3/24 DeSclafani 3/36 2 years: Verlander 1 year: Syndergaard, Morton, Quintana, Wainright, Heaney For some reason, I thought Stroman had a 4 year offer from the Cardinals. That must have been just a rumor.
  4. The #1 pick in last year's Rule 5 Draft was José Soriano. Soriano is a guy who was out all year on IL similar to Ward. Pirates paid him MLB minimum this season to rehab, burn an option year and then just send him back to the Angels on 11/14. If Ward is selected, there is a good chance that he is returned. Of the 18 guys selected last year, only 8 were never offered back to the original club. Baddoo and Whitlock were notable as they actually stayed with the new club and performed. That's not generally the outlook for Rule 5 guys.
  5. Anyone they sign prior to the CBA will most likely be short on years just because they don't know the outlook on the luxury tax. I'll think that's why they've missed out on a few guys so far. Once the CBA is agreed upon, they'll be more likely to sign a longer term deal unless things drastically change with the tax calculation.
  6. How can you get much more competitive than reaching the ALCS?
  7. I'm glad the Sox didn't do that deal.
  8. @NBCSEdgeBB Yankees release outfielder Clint Frazier
  9. It's not a terrible comparison, but that's not to say Yorke will turn into Solak. Yorke in low A as a 19 year old: 323/413/500, 10 HR Solak in low A as a 21 year old: 321/412/421, 3 HR Yorke had more HR's in 2021 in A ball than Solak did in 2 years (including an age 22 season in A+).
  10. That's just because all his savings goes towards his therapists.
  11. The real question is why would the Sox want to save a fan like SG?
  12. If Correa has a negative fWAR in 2022 it would be the greatest thing.
  13. Not sure they'd take Downs and Duran for Means. Doesn't work per BTV. Duran, Dalbec and Seabold works. Duran, Downs and Winckowski works. I wouldn't do those deals though.
  14. That's for sure. It just keeps us warm through these bitter cold nights.
  15. @NBCSEdgeBB Report: Rays, Franco reach 12-year, $223M deal
  16. His very next start: 6 IP, 6 H, 0 BB, 3 K, 0 R
  17. In fWAR, the "f" stands for family.
  18. He can be stashed, but you still burn an option year AND have to pay him MLB minimum for doing so. Is a team that is poor really going to want to pay MLB salary to a guy who is drafted for Rule V and placed on IL?
  19. Means was in the same division as TOR, BOS and NYY and only faced those teams a combined 4 times. He faced the Rays 5 times. TOR and BOS are some of the best teams hitting LHP. Was the rotation shuffled around to miss those two teams? We know what he did against the Sox on day 1. In his only start against the Jays, he went 3 innings and gave up 6 earned. Against the Yanks, he went 10.2 and gave up 4 earned (not horrible), but neither start was a QS.
  20. Can't say I watched many Expos games in 92-95. Negative TZ wherever he played except 1b. Yuck.
  21. I'd say they have a 1 in 8 shot.
  22. Calling it heavy metal is lame.
  23. Nov. 23: Matz is weighing offers from each of the Giants, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Tigers, Cubs, Cardinals, Angels and Mets, Heyman tweets. The Giants’ offer remains on the table even after re-signing DeSclafani. Matz apparently wants to sign by Thanksgiving.
  24. Yorke AND Bello for Means? I wouldn't do it. Mostly due to his injury last year and the performance afterwards. He's 29 this upcoming year. Peak John Means is a 3rd starter? Career FIP is 4.65. After he was sidelined for his shoulder: 4.88 ERA, 5.01 FIP, 792 OPSa, 333 wOBA. https://www.camdenchat.com/2021/8/17/22628308/john-means-post-injury-growing-cause-for-concern
